Commercial Description:
The winner of Baltimore Magazine’s “Best Beer in Baltimore 1998.” We’d like to thank the smooth, roasted malt flavor. The mild hop presence. The little people.

Easily the best beer available (at the time) at DuClaw. I am sure there are others that are a little better, but I liked this amber a lot! Very dark amber, lots of character. Aroma was sweet and taste was mild with a bit of a kick. Quite good!

A perfect balance of malt and hops - not too much of either. If I could find fault with this brew, it would be the color, and I’m being picky here. It was a little darker than I figure an amber ale should be, and it wasn’t really "red". But oh boy, was it smooth!

On tap at Arundel Mills location. Appearance was a deep ruby red with virtually no head. Aroma was pretty balanced and of strawberries. Taste was also very well-balanced with a hint of tangy strawberries. Slightly more malty than hoppy. A little roasty. Just a little bit of hops in the finish. On the thin side.

Draft, pours a nice amber color, with a sweet smell. great after taste with a trace of hops. I definitely agree with boto, this would be a great session beer.

Draught in Fells Point: This one pours a dark, ruby tinged amber color. There was a small off-white head on it. This one has a milder aroma. Some malt sweetness, but no real hop notes at all. The taste is good. I can detect faint roastiness and faint fruits. It has a well balanced medium body, with the taste being neither sweet or bitter. A nice session beer.

20090207 Tap at Bel Air location. Dark amber with frothy tan head. Nutty aroma plus light rubber, earthy hops. Pleasantly soft body. Reminds a bit of a UK mild.
