Commercial Description:
This golden Belgian ale will mystify you with its medium body, its subtle malt and hop profiles, and its complex blend of spices. Fruit flavors, produced by a special strain of Belgian yeast, combine with Belgian candied sugar, chamomile, grains of paradise, and cardamom to create an unfiltered ale so intriguing, you’ll never want to get to the bottom of the mystery ... or your glass.

on tap-pours a rich dingy off white head that laces and hazy yellow/brown color. Aroma is floral/herbal-hops, nutmeg, medium malt, some yeast. Taste is floral/herbal-hops, nutmeg, medium malt, some yeast. Easy then finishes kind of thin.

Draft @ Arundel Mills. Pours a hazy, bright orange color; solid off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing; nice, bright pour. Loads of soft, well-integrated spicing in the aroma; picked out grains of paradise, and something that seemed like ginger; Jim mentioned there’s cardamom (definitely) and chamomile; very nicely integrated, soft-edged spice profile; touches of orange peel. Lively carbonation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy, orange-tinged maltiness and loads of soft spicing; cardamom, grains of paradise, suggestions of ginger (maybe this is chamomile; maybe I need to drink more tea); lightly toasted malts and the slightest touch of orange-tinged sweetness; nicely spiced, very drinkable Belgian ale. Enjoyed this quite a lot. Medium finish: loads of lightly toasted malts, breadiness, and soft, lingering spices.

Straw gold pour with a creamy head and lace. Corriander and candied sugar on the nose. Cinnamon, clove, and an odd after taste of yeast. Creamy mouthfeel with a bit of aggressive carbonation on a medium bodied beer.

Draft @ The Mills (ABV - 5.5%) - Dark hazed gold, creamy white head. Fresh flowers and cinnamon earth aromas ride lighter waves of white peppered apples and ginger. Great complexity for a lower ABV. Well balanced spiced florals and hints of fruity earth flavors round to quick dry finish. Never sweet and super drinkable for this type of beer. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. I love when a brewer steps away from the norm to bring out the creative side of the spectrum, and ends up doing it very well without a doubt. Great stuff...

(Draft @ Arundel Mills location) Served in a shaker. Pours cloudy light gold/amber with a smalll biege head. Aroma of spice (ginger?) and light candy-malt. Mouthfeel lightly pebbly, a bit dryish and wooden. Broken light sheets and dabs of lacing. Flavor of spice and light candy sugar-malt, perhaps slight banana. Maybe slightly better than mediocre.

Location: Draft at the Fells Point Brew Pub, 9/6/09

Aroma: Floral notes, nice amount of spice, and some herbal notes
Appearance: Clear golden-orange color
Flavor: Floral hops mixed with the spicy and yeasty malts, makes for a balanced brew
Palate: Medium body, semi-short duration
Overall Impression: This beer is alright, I like what they were trying to do here. Decent effort, and made for a decent to above average brew. Not great, but worth trying.

Draft at Bowie location. Arrived at the table a fairly clear copper color with virtually no head. Some eucalyptus and candied sugar in the floral, spicy aroma. Fairly thin-bodied. Tastes as I expected based on the aroma - starts with some light candied sugar, a bit of honey, and a yeasty tanginess. Finishes quite spicy, crisp, and just a tad sour. Fair.
