Weird and original aroma with salty, tarry licorice, french fries, and chocolate. Flavor of tarry and salty licorice, some burned ashiness and roasted malt. Medium to full body with somewhat foamy palate. Certainly a brew with personality, but I’m not sure this is as good in greater quantities (like this 50cl bottle). bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Phenomenal aroma of roasty malt, chocolate, brown sugar and coffee. Creamy medium body. Thankfully, the taste follows the nose pretty closely. Mild espresso finish. hirigalzkar (593), Stockholm, Sweden

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2009 Shared with Laurent. Dark brown, almost black actually, with a vanishing beige head. The aroma is damn’ strong and complex, ranging from coffee to soy sauce, warming, rounded and inviting. The flavour is salty, with a sour middle note and a long lingering malt bitter finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2009 pours totally dark with a fantastic thick lasting fine light brown head. aroma is cappuchino, roasted grains, coffe, chocolate powder. truly nice aroma that reminds me of the best cappuchino’s or hot chocolate i’ve had.
flavor is slightly sourish, roasted malts, the slightly citrussy acidic base is not good for the roasted malts and chocolate flavor. i suspect the beer is slightly infected. mjs (1541), Helsinki, Finland

Medium sized fizzy quite quickly disappearing tan coloured head. Strong aroma of coffee, liquorice and roastednee.Full bodied, dry and oily palate with medium carbonation. Coffee, roastedness, liquorice, spiciness, dark chocolate and bitterness in taste. Roasty and bitter aftertaste that lasts long. There is an acidid flavour, too, that pulls my rating downwards a bit. Othwerwise an excellent porter. ulfhocke (1), , Sweden does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 31, 2009 50 cl bottle, bought at Systembolaget.
