Nose is roasted malts with some kind of malty balance, but then some bready yeast. Mouth is some more maltiness, with some strong espresso liquorice, some chocolate towards the end that lasts nicely. Rather good. Dedoulequeen07 (136), london, Greater London, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 28, 2007 RBESG. Arich deep smokey peatyness comes through on the nose with lots of double expresso coming through. A sure pick me up! Taste is similar with some tar and liquorice and mimimal bitter cocoa finish. Slippery and long lasting aftertaste this is definetley a good porter as alcohol doesnt dominate Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

Bottle at RBESG. Black as night with a pretty solid tan head. Roasted malt, bags of chocolate and extreme coffee. Chewy and thick without being cloying. Just the right amount of rubbery oily character. Not the most complex porter I have had but it is just excellent in every department. Lovely stuff. anders37 (4792), Malmö, Sweden

Roasted malty coffee aroma with some chocolate hints. Roasted malty flavor with lots of coffee and licorice. Also some hints of chocolate in the flavor. Sweet roasted malty coffee and licorice finish with a long bitter aftertaste. Maria (6323), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Pitch black with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee and the flavour is full-bodied and well balanced with notes of sweet coffee, loads of licorice and a nice, slightly citrussy bitterness and a very long and roasted finish. A nice one! 2377 jarspag (600), Los Angeles, California, USA

Finally a pub that knows what a correct serving tempurature means, yes! Pitch black - head... tastes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla - very balanced and smooth. Tasted much much bigger than 6.4% - not in alcohol, but in flavor. Very good beer.
