Commercial Description:
The heartiest brew from the Gothenburg suite is a Robust Porter full-eared with caramel malt, balanced with black- and chocolate malt, then topped with a pinch of oat. The hops are First Gold, Pioneer and Chinook. This porter easily tightens your waist-belt in company with the porter steak, chocolate dessert or as stimulant on its own. In earlier days porter was recommended for breast feeding women but we have no intensions of doing so.

Bottle. Black/deep brown color with a small pale brown head. Roasted aroma with notes of coffee, fruit, nuts and caramel. Taste of roasted malt, fruit, nuts, coffee, toffee and hoppy bitterness in the finish. The body is a bit on the light side. Re-tested 090328

Draught. A beautiful reddish black with medium head. Coffee aroma. A bit strange sour taste (end of barrel?), very bitter. Fruity taste at first, which turns into leather with a licorice backstab. Dry coffee finish.

Draught, Oliver Twist. Big tiny bubbled foam covers the dark coloured, almost black liquid, quite opaque. Rich fruity, malty nose full of blackberries and grapes amidst the nost so agressive roast that hints at tobacco and mild coffee. Cottoncandy and nuts are included among further subtleties, but frankly, this is a fruit focused porter, rather sweet at that and without the tartness that you’d usually expect in such a brew. not that this is a problem. The gentlest floral hops manage to procure a slight cut to the fruit sugars. Firm bodied, expansive mouthfeel and ample carbonation.

A Sim rate (Draught at The Bishops Arms, Malmö): Aroma of subtle coffee and nuts. The taste is slightly stronger with a dark chocolate finish. Bitter sweet. Nice and creamy smooth thick palate.
