Duivels Bier Donker

Bottled in take One in Mestreech. Color is warm nut-brown, whit thin tan head, nice lacing. Fruits and malts in aroma, Flavour is about the same with more complex spices. Could use more body and bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small longlasting off-white head. Has a fruity malty yeasty aroma with some spicy hints. Fruity malty yeasty spicy flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy finish.

This brown ale poured with a huge frothy tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a solid roasted malt flavor with significant carbonation and a bit of chocolate.

Bottle at De Hopduvel . Pours dark brown with a good fluffy beige head. Dark fruity aroma. Near full body with frothy carbonation. Nice malty flavor with some hop bitter to offset it. Nice finish.

33cl bottle rated at Roskilde Festival 2009 brown, large thick yellow head. aroma is citrus, dark fruits, sweetness. flavor is caramel, malty sweetness, faint licorice, spicy, toffee, cola nuts.

Bottle. Dark brown, red with a large cream fluffy head. Aromas are cocoa and cola with vanilla and cream. Mellow berries and yeast. Flavours are sweet cola with chocolate and a light roast character. Smooth and creamy with nice berry notes. Herbal on the finish with a great foaming mouthfeel.

Bottle. Amber colour with beige head. Aroma is sweet, fruit, caramel. Flavour is sweet, fruit, yeast, sugar, malt. Pleasent nice beer.

Bottle from trade with jbrus. An amber to copper pours leaves a dense, beige head of moderate size. Some micro-floaties. Caramel-sweet nose with some roasted malts and white sugar. The flavor is much the same, with the sugar a bit more evident than in the nose. Caramel and roasted malts too. Decent carbonation level and a sweet finish. A pleasant beer, but sort of boring. Maybe expecting too much? Don’t think so. Wouldn’t shy away from having it again, but it’s not worth a detour. (090213)
