Bottle. Opaque dark brown with a slim tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, spices and brown sugar. Medium bodied, lightly roasted, with a touch of coffee and a dry finish. Well hidden alcohol. Nice.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, dark brown with a neat, dense and lasting - almost cappuchinoish - beige head leaving laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, nuts and brown sugar. Sweet, full body with plenty of roasted malt and a lightly coffeeish touch without really being burned at all. Subdued bitterness. Quite lovely. 160107

Bottle. Called "Donker 1883 Duivels Bier" Strongish, spicy and hoppy taste. Coffee, caramel and fruity finish. Bit too weak considering they type of beer and alcohol content. Still enjoyable nonetheless.

Dark amber to brown coloured, medium off-white head. Malty and fruity sweet aroma.Little coffee-caramel touches. Full body. Finish is light roasted with again some coffee touches ending more dry. But misses some stronger finish. Ok one.

An old bottle obtained by a generous Belgian RB-er. A dark reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. A nice rosewater malt aroma, swet, classy and restrained. In mouth, like a good dunkel, sweet rosewater, light metallic notes, medium bodied. Overall, quite enjoyed. Shared with the Outaouais Crew, at Old Stock Tasting No. IV, Nov.11 2006.

Dark orange-brown with thin white head. Tutti-frutti aroma with notes of marshmallows, muscovado and fruit. Chocolate flavour with notes of muscovado, vanilla and fruit. Quite thin and sweet with dry finish.

Bottle from Utobeer. Very regal in appearance. Dark raisin brown in colour with creamy off white head. Nose of malted bread, raisins and brown sugar with suprising fruit hints - mango, grape and pear. Flat and subdued flavour of malts, coffee and bread. Overly sweet with too little bite. Short, watery finish. Disappointing on its own, but probably a good accompaniment to a Sunday roast.

Bottle: Chestnut-amber coloured, big fluffy off-white head, slowly diminishing; sweet-fruity (oranges, orange-peel, ripe fruit) nose with a bit of liquorice and a bit of caramel, some hoppy edges; medium to full bodied, sweetish flavour, soft MF; fruity, sweetish and caramelly finish with a lingering hoppiness in the aftertaste. A pleasant, tasty brown ale..................
