May 13, 2008 Pours black with a thin, espresso like head. Quite easy in the mouth, nice hints of coffee, bitter biscuity body.

Dec 16, 2007 Bought at Robbie’s Bottle Shop on George St in Dunedin, NZ. Sweet and thick for a schwarzbier. Interestingly, schwarzbiers are a VERY popular style in NZ, which makes me happy. No aroma, no hops - lovely.

Jul 19, 2007 BJCP tasting. Dark black, little aroma. Fair head. Roast malts but little to no hop influence. OK but not the best we tried this night.

Jan 3, 2007 This black beer has a medium head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and licorice. It’s like it sat down between two chairs: Schwartzbier and porter - it’s more powerful than the first and thinner than the other. It has notes of smoked malt, chocolate, licorice and coffee in a nice balance. It’s good - but I wish it had chosen to go all the way, so that it had more body...
