Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 8, 2008 (On tap) Clear, amber golden with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and nuts. Fairly light in body - actually a little watery. Lightly sweet malts before a dry finish. Unspectacular. 300108 NoiZe (904), Zeist, Netherlands Jan 16, 2008 I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon.
Copper colored. Malty aroma with a sweet flavor and a hoppy bitter finish. TheGrandMaster (1451), Auckland, New Zealand Dec 16, 2007 Bottle, a reddish copper with a large frothy head. The aroma combines both rich malt and a hoppy kick. A sweet and earthy malt flavour, toffeeish with a drying finish. bozoNZ (361), Christchurch, New Zealand Jan 10, 2007 Batch 6920 Merivale New World Tasted 9/12/06. Deep copper brown, stagnant filmy head. No noticable aroma but comes thru as it warms up. Fairly malt mealy type palate but excites a bit more with a bitter toasty finish. bluevegie (1742), Perth, Australia Jan 26, 2006 Clear but deep ruby red body with a light beige head. Some rings of lacing and reasonable head retention. Aroma is not the same as the palate cos I get good hop characters in the taste as well as a pleasant note of smoke whereas the aroma is more malty with maybe just a touch of a bushfire. The body is light to medium, a little sweet and a bit of mocha to finish. Wasn’t expecting much prior to opening this beer but was pleasantly surprised as the Vienna style is not one of my favourites.
