Commercial Description:
A wonderfully balanced true pale ale. Cascade, Tomahawk, and Amarillo hops create a citrusy aroma with a smooth, crisp finish. A subdued malt character nicely complements the hop complexity and produces an orangey amber hue.

12 oz. bottle - Pours a clear amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Has a faint hop and malt aroma. I mean FAINT! Very light hop and caramel malt flavor. Light to medium body. This isn’t a BAD beer, but there is nothing here to call it a good beer. Try adding more ingredients next time.

JW Dundee’s American Pale Ale ABV: 5.3% IBU: ? Calories: 150 Volume: 12 fl oz Glass: tulip Purchased at: Joe Canal’s - sampler. Price per fl oz: $11 / 144 fl oz = $.07 per fl oz Consumed on/at: Home on March 18th, 2008 sensory first impression: A bit of sparkle, but a calm beer. nice deep sunset color - clear orange red. big head goes to bumpy head goes to wispy head goes to nothing. Suprisingly nice flavor - crisp, a touch of hops. Not entirely disappointing, but not very great. A bit watery, but not undrinkable. Not far off from big pilsners though. Aroma/Olfactory: Malt flavor is: hay, grain, cereal, nuts, and dust. Hop flavor is: grassy, a wee bit citrus. Yeast flavor is: doughy, moldy, dry Other flavors include: bubblegum, corn, sulfur, smoke. Visuals/Appearance: Color is: bright, orange, red fiery, sunset. Liquid is: clear, a bit thin. Head and lace are: minimal, white. Taste/Flavor: Maltiness or Sweetness level is: light Hoppiness or Bitterness level is: very light Sour level is: none. Palate/Tactile: Body or Mouthfeel is: thin. Texture is: slick, papery. Carbonation is: average Finish is: slight, and short. Overall experience: Not a bad beer. Not off putting, but not very good. I don’t think I’d get it again. The price is the best part, and that’s just not a very good reason to choose a beer.

Nice aroma, slightly hoppy, specifically citrus hops, and a little fruity. Appearance is a slight red tinge to a otherwise yellow color. Flavor is a surprise. It’s pretty good: a nice hoppy crispness balanced by a slight malt sweetness. Not outstanding, but a good example of an American pale Ale. Good hop bite on the finish, medium mouthfeel. Not bad. and if I may say so, this does well on my quality of beer vs. cost of beer ratio (which doesn’t factor into our ratings on this site.)

Bottle: Sampler pack 2008. Not bad but somehow not quite right. Citrus hops aroma- less so the taste. Not as watery as a Saranac, though, and priced even lower which makes it a pretty good beer in it’s price class. Of course if you drink it right after a great micro Ale you’ll be disappointed! Drive a Mazda 3 right after a BMW M3 and you’ll be disappointed too - but it’s an impressive car for its price.

Sample box split with BMan1113VR. One of the best in this box. Orange reddish pour with a small head that quickly dissappears. Fruit roll up artifical aroma with some hops and malt. Taste is hoppy, fruity and sweet, but the bitterness is odd and it is clear that the hops mask the unbalanced taste.

Tasted with ilovedarkbeer. Not bad. Aroma is floral hops and a bit fruity. Pours with a small, off-white head covering an amber body. Taste is watery and not very deep. Some nice hops in the aftertaste. Fizzy and dry mouthfeel.

Pours a nice copper color with a foamy light tan head. Nice hoppy aroma and flavor. Better than some other JW Dundee offerings, but still not great.

33 cl bottle, Fargo. Promising hop aroma, watery flavor. Did not translate into the taste. Too bad.
