The smell is like cola, cinnamon and black licorice. Grape and bitter cherry. It’s complex and quite good.
The taste is lots of spicy cinnamon. Subdued sweet malts. Some sweet toffee and cola flavors. Could use a more bready malt balance. Nutmeg and hazelnut with warmth.
The feel is syrupy and oily smooth; buttery. This beer -- overall -- is a solid, sweet ale. Lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. A nice little winter ale.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 15, 2009 Smells of plantains, almonds and medium roast malt. Color is medium garnet brown with a little lacey hang on. Flavor is balanced malty sweetness with toffee and a slight dull spice maybe due to how old this is, and the carbonation helps this winter beer feel refreshing in July. Lighter bodied but silky. This is like a Bass pale ale but with more going on. Nice beer. Thanks High Falls. 12 oz. jbye4334 (719), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

The aroma had scents of caramel, vanilla, and some spices or other... to light to relly pick out. The flavor was much the same, only it had a dusty quality. The spices, appearing mainly as nutmeg, only come through as an aftertatse. Single bottle buys are a wondrous fine thing! curly (742), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Brownish ruby in color with a thin head. Caramel and dust aroma. Brown sugar taste and a lack of spice I think. Very thin and tea like.
