Some hints of spice and apple. Thin near spritzy liquid. Flavors of pumpkin and pumpernickel, little bit of spice. Dry nearly acrid finish and linger. Not much festivity in this one for me. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 28, 2008 I bought it for my brother-in-law, whose now-deceased dog was named Dundee. I do like winter/festive ales, although this wasn’t that remarkable. It is mostly a bock-like rush of caramel with moderate sweetness, and a middling sense of spice, finishing quick and not particular much to reflect on. Not bad, just not a keeper. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Bottle. Pour is a reddish brown with a one finger tan head. Aromas of roasted nuts, spice and toffee malt. Following first sip, I’d say this is the best Dundee beer I’ve had. Flavor is thick malt (nuts and toffee) with a nice touch of spices and a little bit of hops bitterness to bring it home.
