Odd aroma of wet grains and a mix of spices. Taste includes some sweet caramel, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maybe some coriander. Average mouthfeel. I just thought this beer was a little different, but not in a good way. I’m not sure what they were going for with this mix of spice, but it didn’t work out as well as I would have hoped. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 6, 2008 Bottle, some spice and sweetness in the aroma, pours a dark clear brown color with a long lasting moderate tan head. Some sweetness and cinnamon tastes, nothing great but finishes dry. Is a bit watery as well. Typical of this brewery. Nate (2569), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Bottle courtesy of cheapdark. Light funky wet dog and cardboard aroma; mild metallic hoppiness and some hint of cardammon or cinammon, I guess. Some sweetness in there, too. Dark brown-amber, murky, with thin off-white lacing head. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Starts with some spicy sweetness, like mulling spice and brown sugar. Mild sweet graininess. Has some decent hidden qualities that diminish quickly and are overthrown by a thin corn-like sweetness and a bit of cardboard. Light nutty bitterness to finish, with dull sweet after. Not the worst ’festive’ type ale I’ve had, but nothing I’m apt to have again soon. zebracakes (1217), Washington DC, USA

Pours hazy ruby caramel, off white head. Aroma is malt, chocolate (Whoppers & Ovaltine), spices, fruitcake. Flavor is similar with roasted nuts. Not awful, but not something that I would seek out. I don’t think I’m fond of vegetable beers (unless hops counts as a vegetable). gpekar (230), Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Poured a dark copper color, similar to a strong iced tea. A 1/2" foamy head that left decent lacing. A nice spicy aroma with a little hoppy scent. The taste was a refreshing crisp bite. Not strong but very nice. There were light flavors of citrus, ginger snaps and an earthy feel to the beer. A nice good foundation for the beer with the subtleness of spices for a little extra. A pretty decent beer for the money. I got a 6pk for $3.99 hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Bottle... Hazy, dark, orange ale with a small, frothy, khaki-colored head. Good retention. The soapy, spicy aroma is a union of ripe apple, ginger snaps, dark bread and lactic acid. Full-bodied with a whole-milk mouthfeel and frisky carbonation. Malty-sweet flavor with gobs of caramel and traces of chocolate. Decent bitterness, but still leans toward the sweet side of balance while offering a suggestion of ginger bread. Mid-length, crisp, moderately bitter finish. Bottle courtesy of cheapdark! dkoonce (899), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Bottle. Deep copper, with a head that starts about 5" and slowly fades to 2". Spicy malt, with ginger being dominant. Sweet, with a mild spiciness, perhaps some nutmeg as well. Finishes a bit sour. cheapdark (2049), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Updated: Jan 25, 2008Overly spiced aroma. Too look at this beer, you would think it’s slightly darker than the typical american beer. Perhaps it is a little hazy. Too much spice in an otherwise dark tasting beer. Certainly spice, veggie or herbs going on. Finish is overdone holiday beer. Difficult at times. Happy bullshit, almost triggers my gag reflex, many times over.
