Commercial Description:
Our India Pale Ale is brewed with an aggressive hop profile derived from Amarillo and Simcoe hops. A blend of Crystal malts creates the backbone which supports the hop character without diminishing it.

This is like a beginner’s introduction to IPA here-everhing is muted: aroma, flavor, palate. The balance isn’t bad, it just could stand to be a lot more assertive and full bodied than this. Very weak for a hophead like me.

JW Dundee’s India Pale Ale is a deep golden ale; cloudy, with lots of particles in it. It has a dimpled, foamy, yellowish off-white head that leaves great sheets of lacing on the glass. It looks dirty! It has a sweet aroma of brown sugar and flowers. It made my nose run. It is medium bodied and pretty smooth. It is not incredibly bitter, but the balance is good. The hops seem herbal and leafy with a touch of pine. The grain flavor is smooth and solid. It kind of reminds me of Hazed and Infused.

Part of the craft pack, turns out this is a decent brew. More akin to an American Pale Ale by style, I enjoyed the two I had. Dark copper in color with a medium sized, light tan head. Blanketing lacing around the entire glass. Fruity hop aroma with some evergreen and sweet malts thrown in, needs to be more assertive. Drinkable with enough body to be filling. Calm, bitter aftertaste. Citrus and pine needles backed by caramel malt. A touch nutty with an underlying sweetness. Very balanced and mild making this a session ale with good character. Keep producing beers like this Dundee and I’ll make sure to enjoy them more often.

Deep amber brew, opaque. Pleasant light citrus aroma, great hops presence. Gentle bitterness followed with slight burn. Good flavor, just not consistent. Gets a bit watery at the end

Appearance: Pours an amberesque body with a small, white head. Smell: Plain pale malts with a backing of citrus fruitiness and a faint, faroff note of grain. Taste: Pale maltiness with a restrained sweetness. Touch of grain astringency. Light citrus flavor paired with an herbal, tea-like component and a medium bitterness. Flourish of carbonation on the dry, lightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation, slightly fizzy. Drinkability: Best so far of the JW Dundee’s Box of Horrors, but that’s not saying much.

12oz twist-off bottle. Orange amber color, off-white foamy head. Aroma of musty malts. Kinda nice. followed by an always welcome citrus hop nose. Very nice. Amarillo scent. yum. Flavor, yeah well that’s another story. Bland, non-existant malt. Decent hop bitterness. No balance at all. If Honey Brown made this flavor in 6 packs, it would sell very well. I would suggest it to customers looking for something new. As for me, never again and I can say I’ve tried it. It’s just to basic.

Bottle, at home with renffisch, 25th June 2008. Yellow gold with a small head. Poor aroma - a bit of corn, a bit of hops, some honey. Not that hoppy in the mouth, it’s a failure as an IPA. Ok weight, but the flavour doesnt hang around. Poor.

bottle. sweet nose of acacia honey, very sticky and earthy. Amber colour, little lacy head. very un-hoppy for an american ipa and on top of the lack of hop is...nthing. bland and boring.
