Commercial Description:
Our India Pale Ale is brewed with an aggressive hop profile derived from Amarillo and Simcoe hops. A blend of Crystal malts creates the backbone which supports the hop character without diminishing it.

This beer is barely an IPA. Alcohol content is good but that’s about it. Don’t go looking for this beer, but if it finds you..... give it a try.

Pretty straight-forward IPA. Clear orange color with nice head. Good floral hop notes with some sweetness as well. Good malt with a nice bitter hop finish.

Pours a five+ finger white head that fades to a lumpy layer leaving a good lace. Nice crystal clear amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Flavor is almost sweet piney hops. Slight hoppy finish. Here’s an IPA that doesn’t blow you away with the hops. $1.08 for a 12oz bottle from Capitol Convenience Concord, NH.

I am rather disappointed. Usually IPA’s have a very strong taste, this does not. I’m glad that this was part of a sampler and that I didn’t buy it as a single.

From a sampler pack of Dundee beers. Slightly citrus nose with a typically golden color on the pour. Well hopped, if not surprisingly so, but not overwhelming. Refreshing with a good deal of hops on the finsish as well. Too bad I can’t seem to find this as a 6-pack around here.

Bottle. Dark gold body with a medium khaki head. The aroma is obvious grapefruit with some toast. There is also a little bit of toasted almonds. The taste has some light grapefruit and lightly burnt bread crust. As it warms, you get a bad soap note in the nose and taste. The body is fairly highly carbonated and I found it irratating. A lightly toasted finish with some cardboard. A bland, almost amber ale, mass produced IPA. This reminds me of poorly made homebrew.

JW Dundee’s India Pale Ale ABV: 6.3% IBU: ? Calories: 160 Volume: 12 fl oz Glass: tulip Purchased at: Joe Canal’s - JWD Sampler Price per fl oz: $10 / 144 fl oz = $.07 per fl oz Consumed on/at: home on March 18th, 2008 sensory first impression: Nice color - sunset again, from JWD. 1/4 inch head, bumpy. lightly sweet nice aroma. Nice flavor, though not typically hoppy, like other great IPAs. A bit weak, but not bad in flavor. Very nice, but not a contender against Victory. Aroma/Olfactory: Malt flavor is: dark bread, cereal, coffee, roasty Hop flavor is: resinous, floral, and citrusy. A bit of nice bite. Yeast flavor is: sharp cheesy, wet, thick with dough. Other flavors include: star anise, clove, peas, licorice, soy sauce Visuals/Appearance: Color is: bright, beautiful, red, fiery, deep sunset Liquid is: clear, sparkling Head and lace are: bumpy, light, white Taste/Flavor: Maltiness or Sweetness level is: medium Hoppiness or Bitterness level is:medium Sour level is: light Palate/Tactile: Body or Mouthfeel is: medium Texture is: creamy, thick, papery, fuzzy Carbonation is: lively Finish is: sweet and long, with some bitterness. Overall experience: A surprisingly good beer from JWD - I attribute this to my love for IPAs, but it has some hops, some citrus, and some long lasting, creamy texture. Good stuff. Not great but very preferable to the nonsense big brewers.

I had limited expectations but still found this disappointing. Reddish amber, small white head. A little malt, a little hops, very little intensity in nose or taste. Just not very interesting for the style // Rerated in August 2008. Slightly better than I remembered..
