Commercial Description:
For thousands of years, fall has been a time of plenty ~ plenty of food and plenty of good brew, carefully crafted in anticipation of one heck of a party. If summer is exercise, bikini diets, and baking in the sun; fall is recliner Sundays, cheese in a can, and basking in the glow of a robust, flavorful brew like Dundee Oktoberfest. So in the fall, be full-bodied. After all, as much as we love bikinis, there is a lot to be said for cheerleader sweaters.

Pours a light, clear caramel brown with a thin, off-white head and prolific rising carbonation. The nose is of bready caramel malt, much like honey on toast with lighter notes of tin and mild astringency which detract from the overall effect. Light-bodied and fairly thin, with assertive carbonation and an astringent and mildly metallic finish; this one’s fairly rough. Sweet and astringent toasty malt with a solid caramel note throughout. This is a pretty muddled interpretation of a fairly ’simple’ style. It’s not completely horrible, but there are are a LOT of better Oktoberfests out there.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very light, see through copper. Small, off-white, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and remains minimally lacy. Faint aroma of sweet malts and slightly apple ciderish. I just barely get a whiff of hops...just barely. I struggled to find any. Flavor is as minimal as the smell. What is there is of maple syrup, caramel and toffee, and an unbalanced finishing hoppiness. Medium bodied and fizzy ending. Overall, not a lot of taste and pretty watered down. Mainly pale malted, thin taste, and candylike. Not the worst beer I’ve ever had, but its pretty crappy.

Tap at Midwest Brewfest.
Pours average yellow with an aroma of garbage disposal refuse. Flavor is corn garbage. Watery mouthfeel. This beer sucks. Yes, this is the same rating as that of Little Apple Wildcat Wheat. Understand, however, it’s as if the same beer was packaged under different labels.

12 oz bottle via HAgen. Pours a clear copper with a small head. Nose is tofee and caramel. Taste is all about the malts..toffee, caramel, biscuits, almonds....quite toasty. Body is light, carbonation is low. Easy to drink and pretty tasty.

’’Be full-bodied.’’

10/24/2008: The aroma of Dundee Oktoberfest Marzen style lager is sweet with plenty of pale malt and a dose of brown sugar, maple syrup, and a splash of cream. It has a crystal clear, pale amber color and a lively amount of carbontion. The small, foamy head on the surface fades fairly quickly. The flavor seems overly sweet for the style flavor, but it isn’t so much so that it is repulsive. There is also tones of pecan, weak caramel, and brown sugar. In general, the flavors seems artificial to some degree, but maybe that’s because there is just too much sweetness and not enough hop flavor or bitterness to even it out overall. The lingering flavor on the palate reminds me of sweet potatoes... This beer is medium-light to medium-bodied and smooth. Oh well, it was a try, but it is definitely a sub-par Oktoberfest/Marzen beer...

12 fl. oz. twist-off bottle (Ale 5.5% Alc./Vol.) from Bigg’s Hypermarket in Harrison, Ohio. Rating #29 for this beer...

Pours a clear amber with nice sized beige head. Smell is somewhat offputting goopy yeastiness along with some butterscotch candy like malt. Taste is pretty yeasty and lager like with a fair amount of sweet malt and light bittering and balancing hops. Flavor doesn’t strike me as fitting what I think of as an Oktoberfest, as it is excessively yeasty, but it still tastes a bit better than it smells and is decently drinkable.

12 oz bottle: Aroma has got a light malt characteristic, lager twang, grassy, and some light hops backing it up. Pours a nice golden color with a hint of amber mixed in to it, and a white head that diminishes into a soapy film. Taste is malty, sweet, slightly tongue coating, a bit of hop to it. Overall, It’s not the best Oktoberfest that I’ve ever had kind of pedestrian in my honest opinion. Cheers!

Light grain, mild citrus, and Saaz hop aroma notes. Copper with Creamy head. Fairly bland, with mild sweet malt and saaz hop notes. Watery.
