Smells of honey, green apple, and corn. Taste is honey and husky wet grains. Has a harsh unpleasant bitterness. Drinkable but just barely. yesyouam (609), Fairport, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 22, 2008 JW Dundee’s Pale Bock is a clear, very sparkling, light amber beer with a small white head that soon fades. The aroma is of pale malt extract, grass, hay and some sweet corn. It’s just on the light side of medium bodied. It has a smooth mouth feel with a crisp, delicate finish. It starts a bit sweet, turns almost salty, then it’s peppery. It’s not very bitter and tastes a bit chemicalish. There is a flash of some tropical fruit or bubblegum, which is a little odd. The aftertaste is boozy. Not too bad. KnN (751), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA

Not the best Heller I have had but still OK. Sweet and bitter. Not well balanced.

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 5, 2008 (12oz bottle from sampler 12 at home on July 5, 2008) Pours a light, almost watery, amber color. Frothy, bubbly white head. Slow, steady carbonation. Aroma is that of a standard bock… taste is a little bitter (not the good kind) and sweet. Soapy aftertaste. All-around flavor is very macro, even tastes like I’m drinking it straight from a can (I assure you this is a pint glass, unless this is some surreal dream)... very metallic. This would probably taste much better when drinking straight out of the bottle while hanging out in front of the barbecue pit... so your nose and tongue are consumed with other hefty scents to mask this beer’s inadequacies. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 20, 2008 Quite a nice beer with some sweet malty with a nice body and slightly hoppy flavor, its got some real character. Dacrza (253), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 19, 2008 Clear golden body with soft bubbles and a white, pillowy, extra-creamy two-finger head in a pokel--uneven tracings... thin, metallic hints of malt; crisp and a bit buttery... thin going in, but a bit of an annoyance on the throat... creamy and weak-bodied... somewhat malty--more pilsner than bock?--but the taste boldens late... stronger, but still basically a light lager with some sweetness...pleasant and rather nondescript--giving this beer the benefit, it may just be a misnomer (can’t imagine this holding up to an actual bock), and without expectations, it is drinkable.
