12oz bottle into a pint glass. Got this in a sampler pack with several other JWs. Wasn’t blown away by too many of them.

A thick off white head sits atop a beer of light caramel color. Active carbonation is visible through the clear beer. A pleasant aroma is sweet malt and caramel. Some nice fruit flavor along with the caramel. Hops in the background add some spice. Earthiness. Finish was akin to a high gravity which was disappointing. It was a nice, but not great, beer before the finish.

Appearance is a thin layer of watery head atop a clear medium-orange. Initial swath of lace. Like a darkish pale ale. First whiff of pale malt; tangy. Some dark toasted, nutty malt. Good balance of dry malt and slightly nutty caramel malt. Hop presence is negligible. Spicy, tangy pale malt taste at first, then a deep roasted caramel and molasses. Hint of raisin and dark chocolate. Full of dark flavors that keep coming as it warms. Solid, for sure. The feel is thick but also smooth. A bit prickly at the swallow. Not bad at all. Overall, it’s a nice, substantial but darkly drinkable brew.

dirty blonde golden colored pour with a big near white head and some drippy lacing. it smells like my beloved malt liquor... earth, straw, lager yeast, sweet fruit, pale malt and a bit of metal. tastes like a ML too... actually, more like a watered down euro strong lager... sweet pale malt, lager yeast, some sort of fruit and dirt (not earth but dirt). it gets a bit difficult to drink as it warms as the medium body becomes sticky and a little acidic in the way a nickel is. 5/3/4/3/10/2.5

Golden body with a thin white head. Good sweet malt notes mixed with some good bread notes. Initially the flavor had a astringent quality to it but it subsided as i had more, flavor was pretty much like the aroma. A smooth mouth feel. It looked as if it was going to be watered down but it wasn’t. A nice beer but it wasn’t great.

Pours orange-golden with a thin white head. Aroma is malty. Flavor is sweet malt, bready, and a bit of hoppy bitterness in the finish.

THOUGHTS: It reminded me a little of the Honey Brown without the honey. I don’t usually like hellers, but this one was nice, really nice. Lots of different malt. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark yellow with a small, while head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate bread, cookie, grain, straw, cereal and caramel malts; and very light grassy hops and even lighter citrus hops. The initial flavor was sweet; while the finish was lightly sweet, very lightly bitter and slightly sour with and average duration. There was caramel malt, syrup, grain, straw, bread and slight hops. The light to medium body was like watery syrup with fizzy carbonation and a light astringent finish that really wasn’t much of a finish at all.
