The aroma was bitter, dry and roasty with a light floral hop presence. The flavor was tangy, sour and bitter with a moderately roasty and toasty element and a hint of molasses and licorice The finish was shortish malty and molasses. Clear dark mahogany with deep garnet highlights and a faint ring of tan head. Caramel and chocolate nose. Roasty flavor. Almost a hint of smoke. Medium thin, a little watery almost. Fair i suppose. Mild chocolate coffee with a bit of earthiness in the finish without tasting like dirt. Considering the brewer and the price not too shabby at all. Dundee really needs to get these beers in 6ers to see how they do on their own and dump the weak ones. scottw86 (184), Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Aroma was of roasted malts with maybe some chocolate malts. Taste was good, not too watery. I was surprised how smooth it was. Chocolate, toffee, and caramel were all present. Not bad! redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA

Pours dark amber with a thick, creamy brown head. Has a nice roasted malt aroma and a bitter taste with a hint of chocolate. A quality beer.
