Aug 16, 2009 I think this is their best brew. Dark brown with a tan head that stick around. silky smooth malt aroma and taste that is balanced out with their hop addition. For me, this is a perfect summer brew here in Texas.

Aug 5, 2009 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Got this in a sampler pack with several other JWs. Wasn’t blown away by too many of them. This was basically a nice, drinkable version of a porter.

Aug 4, 2009 Bottle from a mixed pack on 06/27/2009. Dark brown body with light ruby highlights. Light roasted malt, honey, and some pale malt aroma with hints of molassas. Molassas, faint roast, caramel, and pale malt flavor, some slightly tart notes. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.

Jul 29, 2009 Thanks Floyd. Pours typical of its style being very dark with a smallish tan head. Nice retention provides the beer with a creamy feel. A nice aroma offering roasted notes and chocolate that could be from fudge. Flavor is mostly chocolate with a surprisingly big alcohol taste. Hops are barely noticed. This beer did not warm well becoming sour and bitter. Still, it was enjoyable and offered nice flavor.

Jul 24, 2009 Bottled. Poured medium-deep ambery brown with a short, swirly cap of beige head. The aroma picked up lightly-toasted, artificially-sweetened chocolates first and foremost with accents of earth and vanilla beans.. non-offensive. The flavor had sweet chocolates throughout paired with molasses down there too.. again there was lots of vanilla around.. light-to-moderate roast.. sweet finish with more of the molasses. Light-medium bodied and just a bit too sweet for my liking.. decent array of malts, though. I’d drink this again.

Light body, dry, clean, no fruitiness. Finish is dry with moderate bitterness and slightly tart astringency. Touch oxidized.
