Why do American brewers call their American wheats hefeweizens ... it’s different .. and so is this. Gristy and musty on the nose, citrusy and sweet, rathery than clovey and yeasty. This doesn’t drink much differently than a lot of American golden ales. Well made, pleasantly balanced. I suspect it loses props in the ratings (including mine) due to the inappropriate and presumptive name. (#3066, 8/27/2007) haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 27, 2007 Pours a cloudy yellow color with a thin head. Some citrus, maybe wheat in the aroma. Light, sweet taste but not much of a hefe. Some hops, but nothing that characterizes this beer as a wheat. mrant (330), New York, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Aug 22, 2007 Updated: Aug 31, 2007Smells very faintly of sweet malts. By faintly I mean barely there. Pours a very very incredibly light straw color. Pretty much yellow. Color reminds me of cheap beer. Taste is very weak hints of banana with the overly dominant wheat malt flavor. I would not call this a hefe. If anything it is a bad american wheat. Not something I would drink a lot at all... redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Aug 20, 2007 An American wheat? Just as confusing as is the description. Unfiltered wheat beers are usually hefeweizens but what makes an American hefeweizen an American wheat when other American brewers make Hefeweizens and wheat beers and are classified as German wheat beers? It is like the Abbott and Costello skit, whose on first? Well it is hazy with a med creamy head. A stale cardboard aroma. A bland Wonderbread taste. I guess that is what makes it an American wheat, cheap ingredients and very PC. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Hazy dark strawish pour with aroma of slight hopcitrus, some lemongrassy malt, and slight spicy notes. Medium to light palate heft, with some hopcitrus, lemony hints, and mild fruit. Not a great hefe. bbbrew (183), Washington DC, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Got a pair of these in the JW Craft Pack. Didn’t expect to care for this at all, but was pleasantly surprised. Light orange, slightly hazy look, with a big white head in a weizen glass. Smell is definitely lemony, and light wheaty malt. Big Carbonation, with a light taste at first with lemon and acidity, followed by a finish of wheat and sweetness. Very decent American wheat.
