Roasted nuts fill the nose with an underlying layer of hops, though not too powerful. Roast malts in the flavor, along with some nuttiness, that finishes with a touch of hops. The palate is a bit weak, being a little too watery and thin bodied. Not a bad beer though. Thanks go out to mabdoney on this one. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 25, 2003 Dark mahogany color with an initially large frothy head but fades to a small layer of suds and a ring of lacing. The aroma is slightly nutty with a burst of light hops touching through. Flavor is rather musty with a green roasted feel at the end. Interesting brown ale, not as robust as most, a little more dry and hoppy. Thanks Mabdoney! Andrew196 (1091), Katy, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2003 (bottle. mabdoney) Brown with red edges, thick, cream colored head. Aroma of brown sugar and toasty malts. Pretty full and rich in flavor. Tobacco, roasted malts, and nuts lef up to a pleasant, lingering hop finish. Tasted generic but was very enjoyable. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 25, 2003 Thanks to Mabdoney for the brew. Medium brown hue with a good head and lace. Nutty and fruity aroma, malty and a pinch of yeasy esters as well. Taste is as expected, sweet malty with undertone of hoppy bitterness. Dry and thin mouthfeel. Chalky finish. An average brown, quaffable. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 4, 2003 Deep dark brown with a thick tan head. Lightly roasted nutty aroma. Body is somewhat thin, roasty, dry and bitter. An ok brown ale, but I expected more from this brewery. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 25, 2003 Hoppy, brown, and bubbly. A bit grainy at first but settles to a nice hoppy treat. The malts are weak and need to be beefed up to match the nice amount of hops in this drinkable, but mediocre brown. jaymobrown (1360), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 2, 2003 Fantastic dark brown colour with red highlights when put up to a light. Nice tan head which lasts and lasts atop the beer. The aroma is simply amazing. Smell one side of the glass you get a great maltyness, and wait a few seconds and smell the other side, pure hops. Most likely the best smelling Brown i've ever had. The mouthful is definately light bodied and a little watery, but the hops show through more than the malt. Some subtle nuttiness lingers in the palate afterwards, but its fairly bland. Overall, the beer looks and smells great, but is a bit disapointing on the taste and palate. All said, a good beer worth trying if you can find it in person, or acquire it through a trade! I got my sixteen ounce pint bottle from Mabdoney in a beer trade, Thanks!
