Remember I am not a big fan of brown, particularly mediocre ones. Fizzy, acidic. Some malt, some hop. Rather thin. I would rather a root beer.Radekfest 05 #14 sample. hopscotch (5490), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 3, 2005 Bottle... Sparkling clear, very deep, copper ale with a small, frothy, lightly tanned head. Good retention and excellent, mountainous, glue-like lacework. The nose is of toasted caramel, milk chocolate and cola. The flavor very hoppy and thin. Lots of hops, not much malt. Some bitter and burnt notes. Light-bodied and watery with fizzy carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. A pretty good beer, but not much of a brown ale. Thanks to matta for the bottle. willblake (2178), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Rootbeer brown pour with small head when poured vigorously. Initially served as suggested at 42 F. Roasty coffee and acidic aromas with nutty hints. Touches on being vegetal, mostly roasty and dry...maybe too dry...thin body and somewhat chalky. Really an interesting brew if not outstanding, and it’s good to see some interesting beer come out of Florida...and it’s encouraging to see a guy like Matt out there tracking down the good stuff and spreading the love in the beer community. Thanks Matt! Man, this stuff was addictively gulpable...I downed it like a dog in a desert. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA

Deep deep brown color with red hues. Nice tan head with good lacing. Malty, coffee aroma. Very roasted and coffee flavor. Medium bodied. Decent hop finish. Perhaps more in the realm of porter. Enjoyable. TheRimmer (483), Florida, USA

Going deeper theres not much going on. kind of roasty, way too much coffee. in fact thats all i got was coffee. I wasnt sure if this was beer or a cold pot of folger’s. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2004 Generous pint-sized bottle, pours out a fine brown color, with a full, lush, creamy head. Aroma is soft and creamy, nutty, with a hint of cocoa. Taste is huge in malt, thick and chocolately, with only a hint of hops. On the palate, chewy and substantial.
Smooth, though lacking any complexity. Still, head and shoulders above many a brownie, like that from a coal-concerned town I won’t mention.
Went down nice, with a memorable flavor.
