Very large bubbles are like potholes on the head’s surface. Smells of chocolate malts, caramel and fruity hops. Not a bad nose. Taste begins watery and sweet with chocolate then becomes salty. Some fruity hops are on the palate’s finish. Not very good. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA

This was pretty good for a Brown, which is a style that is usually boring to me. Had a nice roasty taste at teh start and lasted about half way through the glass. After the it was a little watery. This raised a small head despite a vigorous pour, but otherwise had a nice deep brown color. The aroma was light caramel, chocolate, and nutty, toasted malt. Softly carbonated, it has a medium body and a creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is light chocolate, balanced by a slight hop bitterness and a touch of smokyness in the finish that rememinded me of their Highland Games. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 18, 2004 An extremely hoppy brown ale, in the American style. Dark, dark brown appearance. Light tan head. Considerable hop fragrance with gobs of bitterness assaulting you. A bit much for me, as the malt body is totally lost in there somewhere. What malt there is will be quite roasty. Good if you like a roasty, very bitter brown ale. Thanks, MattA. lilannie (383), State College, Pennsylvania, USA
