Rodders (114), Norwich, Norfolk, England Mar 3, 2009 Updated: Mar 8, 2009(Pint from The Coach and Horses, Norwich) Looks dark gold with small white head. For some bizarre reason this was served warm. Not chilled, or cold, or cool, or even tepid, but warm. This probably hampened my taste experience somewhat, but I’ve had nice beers warm before, and they’ve stil been nice. This on the other hand was actually quite unpleasant. Aroma was of sour fruits and hops, which was ok actually. The taste though was of alcohol, shampoo, and a bit of apples. A little bit tart, but very sweet as well. Not very nice, to be honest. I drank it, to see if it got better, and it began to become drinkable, but that was probably just the 7%. Would like to try it a little cooler, to see if the flavours mellow out a bit, but otherwise, no. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 21, 2009 Hazy blond. Candyish, bubblegummy aroma. Very candyish, grainy taste with light spiciness. Sticky sweet. Tough to drink. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 9, 2008 Draft sample at brewpub.
Poured clear amber color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate yeasty citrus aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
My expectations where met with a soft drinkable beer. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2008 on tap-pours a white ring for a head and gold color. Aroma is faint light/medium malt, spice hops. Taste is light/medium malt, spice hops, fruit-orange, some yeast. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2008 Draft… Lightly hazed golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is of pale grains, banana or plantain and some light spice and smoke. Full-bodied and oily with laid-back carbonation. Lots of malty, honey sweetness with just enough mineral bitterness to provide a semblance of balance. Crisp finish that mellows out slowly but surely on my tongue. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 8, 2008 Pours a hazy straw-orange type hue with thin bright white head. The aroma is sugary and seems a bit like bleached white cane sugar heading toward some malty infused sweetness. To a lesser extent dark fruity esters rise up with notes of dates and prunes with hints of spice and Belgian yeast rounding the nose out in the background. The taste begins with mild yet jabbing tartness that isn’t really lemon but something in the neighborhood of lemon. Then the experience quickly becomes sweet fruitiness with minced dates and apricots sprinkled with cracked black pepper. I get a sense of sweet sugary malts creating a baseline for the flavor from front to back. It seems just a tad drying into the finish, which is nice, leaving a fruity note behind into the after taste.
