It does not hit my palate like a ton of bricks and it was creamy enough to enjoy quickly. Solid. BeerFanDan17 (628), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

A very dark finish with rich smokey and matly flavors (but still creamy). Easily one of the best porters I’ve ever had. I wanted to take some home from the brewery, but they had no bottles available. hopscotch (5528), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Small, white head with decent retention. The only thing I can pull out of the restrained aroma is a very pleasant smokiness. Very well-balanced for a Scottish-type ale. Moderately bitter; moderately sweet with some very nice dark-roasted, smoky notes. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and middling carbonation. Mildly sweet, smoky, gently acidic finish. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA

I can even see some unanticipated floaties. Slighlty roasted malts, with a hint of vanilla and lots of oak. The flavor is malty, and tastes strangely medicinal. I can’t drink this, unfortuneatly. I seriously wonder if something is wrong with this beer, as with the last one I had from this brewery. notalush (2684), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 4, 2006 Bottle from santa - dark brown pour, with substantial tan lace - very peaty, smokey, almost tobacco-like aroma, with a big leathery smell that I’m not sure I’m liking, and every few sniffs I’m greeted with wet ash, like a glass of water with dozens of cigarette butts floating in it - pretty tart up front for a porter, with only a light roasted malt quality - the smoke flavor is very off-putting at first, tasting less like smoked malt and more like burnt rubber, but once your palate adjusts it’s not quite so vile - however, the beer never quite loses that "stack of old tires set ablaze" kind of quality - I would pass on this one. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2006 Very dark brown color with a thin head. A slight smokey/peaty aroma. Incredibly smokey and bitter taste. Honestly, it tastes a little like a cigar. Scratch that, a lot like a cigar. You’ll either enjoy it as an oddity or despise it as Devil Juice. nick76 (2684), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Nov 3, 2006 The aroma is very earthy with peat, smoke, and molasses. The appearance is dark brown and the head is small. The flavor is like the aroma with a touch of soy sauce. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s quality but it’s just not my thing.
