Thanks to Matta for sending this in a fine trade!!! The games comes on with a huge head of off white foam that settles in for the duration. Almost instantly the heavy smoke aroma hits your nose. With care you can detect some toffee and toast but the smoke dominates the aroma and flavor as well. This is an interesting beer that is a nice change from the usual. A good winter sipper if you like a smoke beer once in a while.

Mostly clear with a dark-red glow; off-white head. Kind of light mouthfeel. Smoke and peat really seem to dominate the beer. Not the biggest smoke/rauch fan here, so I may not appreciate it as much as others. At times, other flavors and aromas work themselves to your perception, but they are subtle and weak. Interesting, multi-dimensional smoke flavor ... intense, but not overwhelming.

Dark ruby brown hue wearing a sticky off-white ead, big at first and rapidly going down. Aroma is cofeeish, earthy -> lots of peated malt, humid, pleasant. Palate is different though, while the medium body is creamy and displays adequate carbonation, the flavor strikes as rather unusual for a porter.. cobwebs? dirt? tobacco..Martin says dirty socks, let's just say I'm not a fan here which is sad because I liked their APA. Btw.. what's with every dunedin beer being at 5.2% ?

The essence of this malty luminescence is a somewhat overbearing peated malt excrescence...Great bodily composure, a little roasted fruit exposure, but a disappointing wet sock imposture emanates from the peat...A very good complexity is rather blemished by this over-peatedness (not smokiness) and a bitter, metallic tinge in the end...

Deep brown color with sticky head and a little lacing that sticks around (no pun intended). The aroma is lightly smoky & fruity. Flavor is a littly salty with an interesting mix of smoke & hops. Finishes strongly acidic. Overall this was another interesting but watered down Dunedin beer. Thanks Mabdoney

Pours a dark brown, with lighter brown edges, a tan head of big bubbles, and some spotty lacing. Aroma is filled with smoky malt and alcohol. Flavor seems a bit over powered, covering up what little malt I can detect. Cloying palate. Not too big of a fan of smoked beers. Thanks to mabdoney for this one.

Thanks to mabdoney for sending this out! Pours almost pitch black with a brownish hue and a small tan head. Nose is roasted malt with smoked or smoldering wood. The taste is also smoked a slightly bitter with a light sweetmalt note. Oily body. Leftover bitterness during the finish. Still getting used to the smoked beer thing. Well done for this style.

Bottle. A dark cloudy brown color with a laced tan head. Strong smokey peat nose that rolls into the aftertate with a punch. A hint of sweetness in the earthy malty flavor. It brought me back to the wet grassy hills of Scotland. Thanks to mabdoney for the trade.
