Pours like a classic stout with a thin tan head. Great flavor. The new Dunedin stuff is much bigger than it has been in the past. I never got around to rating most of their stuff, but in the last year all the beer has gotten bigger. The bitterness in this latest sample is a good testament to that. It stays all the way through where earlier version were watery and unoffensive. newer version is a touch thicker too. willblake (2176), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Aroma is a shock with a big dose of c-hops to go along with pitchy roasting. Flavor parallels the aromas with bitter coffee, floral hints, no sweetness, some peat. Finish is long, bitter, and oily. Interesting stuff, nothing like I expected but these Dunedin beers are always fun. Thanks Matt! goldtwins (4080), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 3, 2005 Poured a dark black with a smaller light brown head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, and some hops (pine). Hops come out more in the taste. Toffee came out in the aroma and taste as the beer warmed up a little. Body was very thin and watery. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2005 Thanks to matta for this. Pours raven black (not a hint of ruby or light through this baby) with medium tan head and marvelous lace. 5 for appearance. Aroma of malt, HUGE piney hops, toffee, slight dark fruit. Tastes roasty malty (semi rauchy), with big hops and much chocoff. Almost like dumping an IPA into a stout, which is the only (minor) problem here. The two taste components work fairly well to an extent, but get a bit discumbobulated as it warms. Very smooth palate, but slightly light in body for a stout. Still, I’ve never had a beer, or even a black-and-tan for that matter, that was anything like this in its uniqueness. I’d drink this again in a heartbeat and beg for more. envane (251), Evanston, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2005 Updated: Feb 16, 2005This should be classed as a dry stout. Very dry and roasty, with some nice smokey notes. Slight acidic. Thin, a little watery at times. Nice long bitter finish. A little more robist, and this would really be good. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
