Bottle pours dark brown, almost black, large fizzly fawn colored head, with attractive lacing.   Hoppy sourness on the nose.   Slight chalkiness, a bit of cocoa and coffee.   Seems fairly dry at least.   Spritzy mouthfeel, slight astringency, with a charred malt flavor.   Very airy and quite thin for a stout.   Body is non-existant, and the mouthfeel is extremely thin.   Finishes astringent, slightly metallic.   This is a stout?   WTF?!?!?

Color is firmly, fully black, black as Satan’s spleen, and the head is a nicely retained, frothy, brown. Aroma is nicely roasted and toasted, with espresso tinges and bitter notes I quite admire. On first taste, it feels more like an oatmeal stout than any other kind. Not exactly thick in mouthfeel, but still full-bodied, rich, and delicious. An easily downable stout, but not terribly outstanding. Label states, below the fiddling satyr, "slam this mutha!" I hope they forgive me for not following that stern directive. I approached this generous 16 0z. bottle with careful consideration. And it was okay, a fine-enough stout.

Thanks to Matta for this bottle. This was pretty good. Very dark with a chocolate color head that took foever to go down. Nice roasty chocolate taste to it. The only draw back was that it was a little thin.

Toasty, dark chocolatey. Very dry but thin as well, which to me makes it all kind of empty, even the toasty notes.

Very black, rich firm head. Roasty with som spruce. Pretty thin and somewhat acidic. Sharp, very bitter finish.

Thanks for the bonus bottle matta! Pours black with a massive, aggressive tan head. Flavor is quite reminiscent of a home brewed stout, with a bit of that greenish hop note. Medium body, touch of coffee, and an odd hop flavor. Carbonation smacks the tongue a bit. Interesting, but not quite my style. Much better when warm.

Dark color with huge head. Some roasted malt smell. Hint of chocolate in the taste but kind of dry. Slight coffee bitterness on the finish . A decent stout.

Poured 20 ounces of head. Big foamy, rocky tan head. Sipped some out of the bottle and it foamed in my mouth. After it settled in the glass, I proceeded to drink it. Aroma is of walnuts, a hint of chocolate and a little coffee. Taste is very dry with walnuts being the main flavor. A bit of roastiness and a moderate coffee finish. Overall, decent but tone down the carbonation. Thanks to MattA.
