grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA May 23, 2008 Pours cloudy yellow with chunkies dispersed throughout. Head is white and fades fast. Aroma is standard for saison: spice, hops, and the barnyard funk. Not as highly carbonated as I thought it would be, but still is lively on the palate. Flavor is spice, yeast, hops. I was hoping for a drier and hoppier finish. This is good but I think I like the Vieille Provision better. It seems a bit strong for a Saison and seems to be better fit for the holidays and not a refreshing summer saison. All that said I still like this brew and would put it a close second behind the Vieille Provision. badbeer (432), Iowa, USA May 23, 2008 Clear yellow golden color with a white head that has good retention and lacing. Smells of bubblegum, chamomille, flowers, and hints of pepper and ginger. Light spice, chamomille, clove, and bubblegum in the taste. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Good stuff. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 21, 2008 Bottle. I’ve had this one many times as its sure to show up at tastings and probably one of my fist if not my first saison. {ours a cloudy orange with foamy white head. Loads of spices funk and hops seep out of this pour swirling around your mouth and leaving the etoh out of the picture. Great way to introduce yourself to the style. Viper666 (613), Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada May 19, 2008 Bouteille 750ml. May 17, 2008 Refreshing scents of freshly cut spring grasses, complex yeasts and citron bids the imbiber a heartfelt welcome. A dense, lasting creamy head that refuses to go away only accentuates the notion that this is a saison to be reckoned with. The balanced golden sheen, the profound hoppy profile and a hearty 9,5% ABV delivers an artistic punch that lingers on long after the final zesty drop has been savored. A classic. Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA May 13, 2008 Pour was orange straw with nice head and lacing. The aroma was weak funk. Man, this is one rich and creamy beer…excellent mouthfeel. The flavor was tart fruit, a very mild level of spice and a mild barnyard funk. This is a different kind of saison, but I really enjoyed it! smith4498 (816), Miami, Florida, USA May 12, 2008 Pours hazy straw color with big white head. Nice sweet bready aroma. Earthy, musty flavor that is slightly sour. Medium body with average carbonation and a smooth, velvety mouthfeel that finishes dry. Excellent saison. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy May 7, 2008 Nice orange golden colour with a perfect white foamy head. Funky, yeasty, fruity (tropical & citrusy), a bit ethilic, peppery & spicy. Some cellar notes. A bit harsh MF, alcoholic but developing in a strong saison character.
