Slayer85 (582), Firenze, Italy Feb 23, 2008 750 ml bottle. An unclear golden beer with a big, persistent white foam that leaves laces on the glass. The aroma is peppery, citric, with a light note of alcohol. The flavour is quite powerful, spicy (pepper, coriander), fruity (lemon), with some alcohol, that is not disturbing but warming. Quite sweet flavours with a decent bitterness. medium to full body, lively carbonation, quite long finish with light to medium bitterness. A much more than average beer, but I prefer their regular Saison, more funky, funny and bitter. However a good winter and strong Saison. jwardell (23), Newton, Massachusetts, USA Feb 22, 2008 On tap. Excellent head, nice dark blond color. A light taste that did an amazing job masking its high alcohol content. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Feb 20, 2008 750, corked and baled. Crystal clear dark gold with a towering platinum blonde head. Acres of fuzzy lace. Medium body, soft carb. Beautifully presented. Sweet grass, floral notes, caramel, and general goodness on the mid-palate. Long slightly sugary finish. Compared to the aged Moinette Blonde I just cracked, this is a bit of a piker, but I bet it’s lovely in time. I’m hip to pretty much everything at the top of Dupont’s line, though--these guys aren’t playin’ around. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Feb 19, 2008 750 mL bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours hazy dark yellow with an average, frothy, white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, hay, straw), average hops (herbs, grass), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of grape, pepper, and wine. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Feb 19, 2008 750 pours light amber gold with a pillow like white head and cobweb lace that seems to morph into spot lace. The aroma is banana, spicy and yeasty - not much funk. The flavor is sweet, banana, pear, peach, spicy, yeasty, some slight hops, with some minor funk. The palate is nice and rich for the style. The alcohol is nowhere to be tasted or smelled. There is a lingering sour or yeast flavor that really balances out the sweetness well. It gets ultra yeasty and spiced near the bottom - I don’t waste the yeast. Overall, well done. Great for my birthday today! ckau (26), north east, Maryland, USA Feb 17, 2008 Thick white head that disepated quickly. Golden orange in color with good sweetness. Dry to finish. Nicely carbonated, emerson430 (87), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Feb 16, 2008 Draft at the Hopleaf in Chicago. Nice but short lasting white head. Not as funky as I expected from a Saison. The horseblanket I was expecting was more of a horse throw pillow. I would drink this again in a heartbeat but don’t expect something sour or overly earthy! saxo (3511), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Feb 15, 2008 Bottle. Huge head with excellent duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are citrus, fruits and yeast. Nice bitter and acidic.
