Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 26, 2007 From a 750ml bottle--Effervescent thick foamy white head atop a hazy orange-copper body. Nose of complex sweet fruits such as bananas, oranges, and grapes. Yeasty and spicy through and through. A divine Belgian saison. Slightly mealy and gritty. Bready complexity in finish with a biting spice presence. At 9.5% ABV, the alcohol is well-hidden. Amazingly good brew! vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Nov 25, 2007 Pours amber / orange with a small off-white head. The aroma has smooth nectar fruits (mainly nectarines) and light spice. The aroma is subdued compared to many saisons, but what is there is great. Medium body that starts off smooth and finish grainy and crisp with minor carbonation. The flavor starts off with citric and nectar fruits that have a richness, but are somehow dry as well. There is also a grainy spice and it has some abv showing through. The finish is quite peppery. This is an interesting and enjoyable saison. It does not seem as complex as most and the palate is smoother than expected for a saison. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Nov 24, 2007 Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a wonderful yeast and musty with lots of citrus and and pepper. Flavor is equally stellar. Lots of lemon and yeast with some spices. Alcohol is no problem and i would not even think that this would be a 9.5 abv. A very tasty saison and very easy to drink. Defreni (994), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 24, 2007 Fad. Poured cloudy golden with moderate sized off-white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, spice, coriander, perfume and herbs. Yeast and wheat predominate in the flavor, along with some fruit, earth. and citrus. Dry, spicy finish. This was an ideal accompaniment to Thanksgiving dinner. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Nov 22, 2007 Nearly savory aromas with lemon pepper and strong yeast. Very light orange, and cloudy, with a lasting pillowy white head. Sharp acidity on the palate, lots of natural flavors, barley and bright wheat. Some peppery alcohol on the finish, which lasts well. A medium weight beer that tastes, well, authentic. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA Nov 22, 2007 Thanksgiving beer #1 (on the day). Golden color with a deep haziness. Nice white foamy head that sticks to the glass. 750ml. Spicy, peppery aroma with a bit of citrus, slightly sour acidity, and (this is very strange) "the outdoors". Kind of a wild yeasty/pollen/flowery outdoor thing. Flavors were sweet and of course malty up front with a huge amount of dry leafy floral hops... a bit of wild funkiness in the form of a light acidic sourness, some pepper, flowers, and a bit of alcohol. Heavily carbonated but very thick and full-bodied. Definitely a very champagne-like experience. Very crisp and SUPER dry finish. Thoroughly enjoyable. I bought an extra bottle to keep around for awhile... I’ll re-rate it in a few years... Alldaydrinker (557), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Nov 22, 2007 Thanksgiving Celebration, 750ml Bottle Pours a hazy golden colour with small fizzy white head. Nose of funky yeast, citrus, sweet fruits, penuts and mild spices. Initial taste has f izzy mouthfeel similar to champagne. Light bodied sweet citrus and funky yeast comes splashing over the mouth. Finishing with dry spicy bitter hops that leaves you quenching. Alcohol is well masked, brew is very drinkable.
