Fantastic appearence. As beutiful white head rarely seen.Fruithy and spicy. A bit more complex and abstract than La chouffe. The style of category is Saison. A wallone family brewing tradition. This was originally a new year gift to the brewers themselves but is now avaliable all year!

Bottle. Hazy yellow. hazy yellow, huge white head. Peach, mango and citruspeel aroma, light tart. Dry mouthfeel, citrus, the fruits, yeasty funkiness, vanilla, herbs. Fairly fizzy on the onset, more pleasant if you beat some of the carbonation out. Wooden yeast dry aftertase, orangepeel retronasal.

Tap at Barley John’s. Gold color with a large head. Aroma of wheat and stale bananas. The taste was absolutely bone dry candi sugar, if that’s possible. Slightly bitter finish. I found it highly drinkable, but lacking any depth of flavor that warrents its reputation.

2004 bottle with many thanks to my secrent santa (JCW) for sendin it. A tremendous pop when pulling the cork signals this is going to be well-carbonated and in need of a good deal of breathing. After 15 or so minutes, I pour in to a tulip what looks to be a bubbly pale-gold liquid, with some light rusty tinges and persistent mountainous white head. Lightly hazy, with a few flecks of yeast suspended. It smells earthy, like damp hay and mold, with some rusty, lightly citric bitterness and a dry caramel nuttiness. The flavor is full and rich, with a huge yeast apparency, persistent sweetness from the honey-almond like malt, with dry caramellized sugar notes. Grain-like spicy notes abound throughout, with a pleasing, zesty mouthfeel and medium-full body. Finishes dry, nutty, yeasty with plenty of honey-wheat breaddough-like flavors and more light citrus hanging around. A good bridge between the sweeter, moldy, cheesy Pipaix and the spicy, more lean and crisp Vieille Provision, as others have noted.
