Hazy golden colour with a big, foamy head. Aroma of yeast, coriander, and a faint hint of barnyard. Flavour is very nice and refreshing - citrus, coriander, clove, and a great bit of peppery heat in the back of the throat. The finish is dry and nicely hopped as well, moreso than you might expect from a Belgian. Really great, it’s got me jonesing for the regular Saison Dupont that will be hitting the stores in Ontario soon... Volgon (2489), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 30, 2006 Bottle (from BItter Virtue, Aug 2010). Deep golden. Peppery and zesty orange hops with firm dry malts and yeast character which at times is fruity and others has a chalky earthy character. The real highlight of this beer however is the subtle combination of flavours in the mouth and the overall feel. The firm malts provide a backbone throughout whilst the solid hop bitterness doesnt overpower the subtleties. There is an almost tart flavour which never quite develops fully but acts as an interesting counterpoint between the malt and hop flavours. With a 750 of strong belgian beer it can sometimes be a bit of a struggle to finish it but this went down the hatch quite easily. kmweaver (2474), Sebastopol, California, USA

Hazy, honey-golden appearance; brilliant white head with great retention and tight lacing. Generous aroma: plenty of yeast, white pepper, honey and spice; hints of funk. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: yeasty, belgian ale profile, pepper and spice. Quite dry, filling, and fluffy. Medium, dry finish with plenty of yeast. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA

As I pour this beer into my glass I get an aroma that is enticingly sharp, grassy and herbal all together. The beer is a lightly hazy straw gold color, it is topped by a frothy, rocky off pale white head. Ooh, the aroma is quite nice it has aromatic notes of bergamot, fresh cut hay, wild flowers, lemon zest, vanilla, and perhaps a soft woodiness. The aroma is quite smooth and almost mellow in character, though it is quite complex and intriguing.
This beer starts out smooth but then starts to pick up a sharpness in the middle, but then finishes with a lingering malty smoothness. This beer is quite tasty, it does not have the complexity of the Saison Dupont, but it is still quite tasty and much more mellow and smooth tasting. The flavors that meld together in this beer are quite nice, I get notes of lemon, pepper, ginger, a tannic woodiness, and some sharp herbal notes. This beer has a really nice flowery, almost nectar like, quality to it that is just so smooth and satisfying. It really hides its alcohol quite well. This beer is quite tasty and is really growing on me more and more as I drink it.
In the end this is just a wonderful mix of flavors, textures and aromas. This beer is quite good, and is perhaps my second favorite (after the Saison) from this incredible brewery. 5000 (2467), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA

Sweet & tart aroma, slightly floral. Candied malt sweetness up front, with a very subtle tart floral flavor on the backside. Alcohol is well hidden, but definite warming feeling. Good body and mouthfeel. Slight bitterness that lingers. The sweetness and tart aspects of this brew are well balanced. Tasty!
