on tap at the moan and dove as part of their belgian beer fest. glad i finally got to try this amazing saison. poured golden into a nice tulip, with a nice three finger white head. aroma and flavor of citrus, yeast, alcohol, and a nice hop balance. very enjoyable. will definitely by a bottle now.

750 ml bottle thanks to Santa Claus, thanks. Pours a golden color with a huge foamy white head, and tons of lacing. The aroma is quite nice; sweet citrus and fruit, lemon, apples, lots of yeast, sweet bready notes. The flavor is great; sweet citrus and bready flavors, yeast, a dry concoction of full dry flavors. No noticeable alcohol at all. Very nice. A very full mouthfeel.

From a 750 ml. caged corked green bottle, 2.005 on the cork, and what appears to be a best before date on the lower right corner on the front label, sampled at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Poured a bright golden orange with a frothy, foamy white head, retention, some laced sticking. Aromas of clove, spices, peppery and herbal, honey, tropical fruits and whiffs of solvent-like alcohol. Good carbonation and a crisp, dry, carbonated smooth light bodied mouthfeel, very nice. Pleasant spice and herbal taste, honey pale malts, tropical fruity that meshes with solvent alcohol, alcohol is warming in the back of the throat, clove, coriander and a peppery spice, earthy, herbal hops that have a soft bitterness, and a dry tart yeasty, malty finish with a little lingering herbalness. A very enjoyable saison, recommended to me by a employee at Sam’s, Lincoln Park Chicago, thanks!

(on 75cl bottle)Under "saison" there will be a picture of this, aroma of dirty horse, earth, hay and spinderweb; i know cause I come from the country side. Big white head, golden, hazy colour. Actually not much of a flavour, the finish takes over at once, with medium bitter sourness and a warming alcoholic feel - a good session beer, but a bit strong alcoholic-wise.

0.75l bottle (2006) courtesy of heavy (thanks!), shared with him and ogivlado
Poured a murky apricot body with nice, lively carbonation and a great, huge thick white snowy head that went away slowly. The nose is pleasant, dominated by a nice Belgian spice and malt, with some lacticity and honey. Just a bit sourish. Taste? Damn nice... warming alcohol, apple, malt... general fruitiness, very spicey... lovely yeasty funkiness, somewhat chalky sweetness. As tasty as I expected it to be but it isn’t one of the top 10 beers that I’ve had.

’Wit’-ish in color; thin but lively head with great lace; Aroma is firm, but I can’t put my finger on it. Dry right away. Very full mouthfell with a beautiful sharpness across the tongue. Alcohol is well represented. Has a lot of the yeasty characteristics of a witbeer. Small amount of spiciness reminds you that it is a saison. Another winner from Dupont.

Pours light golden with a mostly maintained foamy off-white head and an effervescent body. Aroma is wonderfully yeasty: notes of honey, bubble gum, barnyard, herbs, and pineapple esters. Taste is well balanced with both explosive esters and lightly bitter herbs. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lush carbnonation. This is most delicious!

I had the chance to sample this on tap at Rich O’s. On tap it is not as estery, and rates closer to a 4. Still an excellent beer, but no bouquet of esters that makes this so delicious.

Sample on tap at Vintage Estates. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a decent-sized, fizzy head. Aromas are spices, lemon and grass, without the buttery sweetness that drives me away from some of the other saisons. Flavor is nice enough, but I’m thinking that saisons aren’t my cup of beer, so to speak. It is fairly light, driven by the grass and light fruit, but rather uninspiring as far as I am concerned. It is strange to me that this is 9.5%... you would never guess it from the flavor.
