Cloudy, sunny yellow with a big white poof of head that settles to a thin layer. Some black bits? Dentist office, apples and pears. Taste is similar with some lemon, pepper and usual funk. Smooth carb; less than it would appear. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA

Malt, citrus, and musty barnyard in the aroma. Flavor was malty up front with some citrus, funk, and quite a bit of hops at the end. Mouthfeel was lively, had a dry finish, excellent masking of the alcohol. Very good. KyotoLefty (1468), Kyoto, Japan

Cloudy golden color with an amber tint. Nose: fruit and herbs. Citrus is big. Pears. Very dry. Big carbonation, with big, biscuity pilsner malt, flavors of yeast, a bit of alcohol, citrus peel, apple, pear and maybe plum. Thin body and extremely dry. Very impressive and original but not as likeable as their Moinette or Saison. Good understated hops. Great and technically perfect, but too dry and lacks the kindness of their other beers. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 24, 2009 75cl bottle. Hazy gold with a big, lasting white head. The aroma is just beautiful beer: hoppy, bready, malty, yeasty, spicy, fruity... The flavor is somewhat sweet and bready to begin, jammy in the middle, and then dry and lightly alcoholic, with bitter hops that leave an orange and spice flavor. The body is medium with ambitious bubbles. Almost brings in a tripel cameo before being firmly Dupont. Great stuff. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA

Aroma is an awesome blend of funky, earth, horse blanket, tart sour apple. Smooth malt body with touches of citrus. An outstanding brew that I was surprised I never rated. Pours a slightly hazed pale yellow w/ a full semi creamy froth that slowly reduces to a full snow white blanket that lays there for the whole duration. Aroma is like a flowery bouquet of fruity malt, citrus and rock candy. Medim nectar w/ ample residual effers including champagne streamers. Possesses a full malty backbone. Flavors are strong yet crisp and refreshing w/ a slight tartness and a deep bittering on the finish. Grapefruit rind, peach, lemon, pineapple, kiwi, slight tropical banana cream. This brew is so strong flavored yet balanced by the high hop that only shows itself on the finish. I could drink it all night. Amazing! Connoiseurs Choice! Highly recommended! Belgian ales never cease to amaze me. I am so thankful we get these fantastic specimens to enjoy in this hot desert climate from someplace thousands of miles away Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 16, 2004 Slightly hazy golden yellow with a thick, tight, white head. A nice, complex aroma. Some sweetness, orange peel, coriander, straw/hay, grass and a light floral perfume. Not extremely funky in the nose; however, there were occasional bouts of funk that almost resembled a light skunkiness. Sort of a light and airy mouthfeel with an effervescence that tickles the tongue. The flavors are quite exquisite. Lightly floral with pleasant citrus tendencies. Things are well complimented by a nice spicy yeast character and a bitter hop finish. Clean and dry with only a hint of sweetness (green apple and honey) from time to time. A very pleasing Saison for a cold Chicago night. Many things to frielock for sending me down memory lane and back to the warm summer (despite it being a holiday beer).
