Matta is such a stellar individual Clear liquid gold wearing a foamy, frothy, rocky gigantic-sized white head. Very carbonated body. Gotta love such a complex aroma that never hinted at being not as great as expected by me (who still recently fell under the charm of their Dupont Forêt). Ultra farmy, dry and yeasty, very yeasty obviously like all other Dupont. Lovely barny and spicy hints. How can you not love a fine Saison. Bone-dry (made me think of chalk at times) with awesome white wine aspects. Deep spice profile includes coriander, basil, pepper, thyme, mint, sage and just various other herbs. The first sip proposes a malty attack with lots of dry hay, some apple and so much yeast. Finish is dry with a grassy hop bitterness, but remains restrained and balanced. Aftertaste comes back to haunt me with suggestions of dust and spices and that scores big points with me. So herbal, so intense and no alcohol to speak of although there's a charming warming effect. Body is medium, quite carbonated, mouth-cleaning for sure and lightly tart at times. Marvellous Marvel. I'm truly impressed and in great thirst of Saison for the rest of my days. Help me!

Aroma gives infinate yeastyness, a little peachy fruit. Taste is similar yeastyness. Overpoweringly so, carbonation slightly harsh therefore not so easy to drink. I just got this sent up from beers of europe today so maybe it needed a little time to settle down before drinking.

Bottle... This beer rocks... I tasted this beer at a non-RB party. Nothing kills a group buzz like a guy scribbling in a notebook. Rely on my score and the descriptions provided by other Ratebeerians.

2004 bottle: Pours a clear bright golden with a huge rocky and frothy head with lots of clumpy lacing. Aroma is dry, soapy, and bready with lots of Belgian yeastiness. Starts with a bready dry caramel sweetness and a touch of candi sugar toward the earthy, dry, yeasty finish. A nice saison with decent complexity. Thanks Silphium!

cloudy bright orange colour with a big creamy head, estery and cider-like aroma with touches of vinegar, grapefruit and cork, sweet and full-bodied, acidic, dry alcohol and fruity finish (mostly apple) - powerfull and balanced

Bottle. Had this with some spicy hot Morrocan food, bad move i say, but the beer was still great. Full on spicy, pepper, Belgian yeasty flavour. Wheaty, bready malts, orange rind. Finish is quite peppery and bitter, quite dry too. Rich flavour, yeasty, intersting, earthy, country style!

(Very well seasoned sample on 75cl.) Explosive gushing to huge, but not very stable white head; fully hazy pale peach-orange beer. Barnyard and earthy aromas, leather, citruszeste, faint spices and fresh white bread with nuts in the nose. Again very earthy, leafy and mouldy aromas in the taste; faint sweetness underneath soft lemony and lactic acidity. Background flavours of wheatlike grains. Refreshing despite full chewy mouthfeel. Oily sensation, consistent with an aroma of walnut oil. I deliberatley chose and aged sample. Recent tries on draught revealed a sorry diminishing of the unbelievable complexity of this superb beer. This description is how it can, and ought to be.

Hazy orange colour with white head. Nice fresh herbal aroma. Malty flavor with hints of flowers, hoppy bitter finish.
