call it a sin, call it crazy but we drank way too many beers at this cafe in brugg, belgium and this is the last of them. how accurate the rate? your guess is as good as mine? once again this was recommended to us by a frieindly chap that we had met at the cafe and gave us a whirlwind taste of his favorite beligum brews. poured out all over into the three glasses placed on the bar... orange yellow with a big explosive tnt head. nose of fruit citrus banana spice and some leather. up into the filiform makes you think of fresh bread yeast, brown sugar babies, and bananas and spice with some citrus cutting down that pine back door that you need to replace. quite special of a beer and even more for the memory. thank you to our friend (dont know his name) in belgium, as we stumbled back to the train and slept all the way back to brussels.

750 ml. bottle. Pours a cloudy , nearly opaque gold with a finely structured, durable, large, white head with excellent lace. Aroma of light fruitiness, citrus, and yeast that is quite inviting. Medium body with a very clean mouthfeel, and a palate cleansing lively carbonation. Flavor shows some light acidity along with the fruitiness, and a refreshing, bitter finish. Beautiful balance, clean, what a wonderful brew! I’m getting more of this.

Bottle shared by theisti at his Holiday Tasting 12/28/07. Pours a hazy orange-straw with a thin, white cap. Wheat and a beautiful bouquet of soft, fruity yeast and citrus are on the nose. Very nice. Light to medium-bodied, with soft carbonation and a lightly dry and mildly sour finish. With a light wheat body, the flavor follows the nose with sweet, fruity yeast and citrus notes. This is one of my favorite saisons to date. It’s not particularly complex, but it is very, very nice and well deserving of its status among the highest rated saisons on this site. Thanks again for sharing this one with us, Tim!

2005 vintage. Rich gold in colour with strong carbonation. Delicate aromas of floral and grassy hops, spicy yeast, citrus fruits, and barnyard. Surprisingly peppery in the mouth, with some alcohol notes becoming apparent. In this sense, it was very much tripel-like. More funk and citrus flavor notes made their way into the mix as the beer warmed. A bit heavy handed in the alcohol and yeast department flavor wise, but still a good saison... my 29th bithday beer.

Draft: golden yellow, cloudy, thick white head, lacing on glass, aroma of funk, yeast, apple?, flavor is subdued, yeasty with some pepper and bread, slight citrus taste, and a mild bitter finish. Pretty good

My only addition to a small tasting we had here in Perth late last year. Tasted late into the evening, about number twenty on the list.
This poured a gold tinged, deep yellow and hazy in the light. Carbonation was very fine, raising up with force to the biggest, rockiest white head I have ever seen be retained so well. It holds like the surface of the moon and laces wildly as the beer recedes. Fruity esters in abundance - sweet banana and pineapple, tart, bitter peaches and oranges, some tight lemon - this was lovely to whiff, a literal fruit punch that just keeps releasing. It is creamy in the mouth (tasted at room temperature), the carbonation tickles but doesn’t detract from its creamy, soft mouthfeel. Tight tart fruit again here, juicy but dry and quick to draw on the saliva glands. A little pineapple and banana, not as prominent as the aroma. Musty barnyard grains, some earthy, woodiness and good ol’ house yeast flavours settle in comfortably amongst the fruit. Peaks with confidence, a fruity bitter, bite on the swallow, becomes sour and dries out for the considerably long, quenching length. Alcohol - you’d be forgiven in thinking this was an N/A beer as it was not in evidence for both warmth and feel. This is Summer in a bottle, perfectly balanced, juicy but dry, bitter, tight, lovely. A great Saison!!! (75cL, BBE 07/10, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Bottle from Sam’s Clybourn, I think. Pours an effervescent golden yellowy orange with a fluffy, fizzy head. Nose is bready and citric, some light coriander and white pepper. Slightly sweet. Slight banana in there. A touch of skunk, actually a very nice smelling beer. Taste is a bit clovey and dry. Clean bitterness and warming in the chest. Light banana on the tongue with some mild tartness. Fizzy and effervescent again. Pretty taste stuff, though could use a touch of acidity, I think. Nice.
