Draught @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Pours a hazy golden colour with a longlasting white head. Sweet malty yeasty aroma with some soicy hints and hints of citrus. Sweet malty yeasty and spicy flavor. Slightly bitter malty and yeasty finish with some citrus hints.

Draft at DRE. Hazy medium gold pour with fluffy off-white head. Aroma is funky, spicy yeast, dry flowery notes, hopcitrus. The mouthfeel is velvety, very smooth, very complex, with dry floral notes coupled with spicy and funky yeast notes, plus a solid hop bill, and some citric fruity flavor qualities. This one is a very nice saison.

Cloudy yellow with a small white head. Complex aroma with herbs (rosemary and sage), orange peel, mango and grassy hops. Dry bready malt flavur with spices and hops, and some pumpkin-like nuttiness. Fruity notes of peach and pineapple. Very herbal and quite bitter finish. Did I mention complex? Make sure you get a bottle to yourself to fully appreciate it!

2006 bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread/grain), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of pepper, alcohol, lemon zest, and gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Fairly strong with alcohol smell/burn, and not quite as aromatically vibrant as I’ve had it before. The 2006 Moinette was also relatively dull compared to the 2006 Saison Dupont and Foret. i.e., seems like the stronger beers this year are light on hop and fermentation characters compared to normal. Time usually helps this one; aged versions are usually better than fresh one, which is backwards from most of the Dupont line. Although the 2004 edition when consumed in Mar 2005 was awesome (4.5), so sometimes it’s terrific fairly fresh as well.

750 ml bottle, greedily drunk all alone...near-white whipped-cream tops a translucent, pale gold and shiny body...gorgeous mix of vanilla and sharp herbs (tarragon, rosemary, coriander), lemon-orange and a bit of oak...luscious, full mouthfeel, herbal pungency mixes exquisitely with the sweet vanilla-orange Creamsicle dessert...alcohol only vaguely present at the back end, and its muted and warming...a liqueur-like saison for the few cold nights left to us, or to bring in Spring like a true lion!

Fresh cut hay, overripe melon, citrus-lemon-lime and some lightly spicy, grassy hops in the nose. Opaque tan-yellow with generous and lasting white head that recedes slowly with some lacing. Plenty of yeast in suspension. Generally spicy flavour has all the notes of the aroma with a strong herbal/spicy character. Medium-light body with refreshing strong effervescence. Bottle sampled at the Voyager par des Papilles group tasting Feb-05.

Thanks a lot hey_kevin. Pours a light gold with a huge white head. The aroma is hay with some butterscotch and oak. There is also some of that subtle oraganic barnyard. The taste is hay with grass and fresh chocolate. There is also a subtle spice of corriander. Plenty of carbonation. Absolutely wonderful beer.
