zootfinster (154), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 1, 2006 This is not at all my favorite Belgium Ale. I find it a little too citric and too bitter. I get a distinct bitter taste on the back of my tongue. I don’t find it at all sweet as some others have mentioned It may be the style I don’t care for but there are many others I would opt for
Chrism86 (80), Melbourne, Australia Sep 7, 2008 Pours golden orange with surging snow white head. Nose displays yeast spice and earthy hops. Palate is dominated by yeasty spice characters, white pepper and anise in abundance. Some earthy hop presence adds complexity. Finish is dry with significant alcohol driven spice.
Strong links to the vielle provision as expected, obvious to see that this is the winter brew. Classic! JMFG (1140), Florida, USA Sep 3, 2008 Bottle. Golden straw color, thin persistent white head. Lightly spicy aroma, slight sweetness, very light white pepper aroma. Refreshing dry taste, hay, grass, smooth warm finish. Very nice. CafeeOndineke (22), Aalst, Belgium Sep 1, 2008 37,5cl bottle, copperblond, superb head, a delicious hoppy aroma, typical Dupont, taste is dry, no hint of sugar at all, taste is the bitterness of hop, long aftertaste. Yummy! The Best Wishes to all :-) Pompey (21), Longmont, Colorado, USA Aug 27, 2008 Golden slightly hazed pour with a nice one-inch head in a tulip glass. Aroma is sweet wet grass wit a hint of yeast. Good body especially for a Saison. I should note that I’m not a big Saison fan, but this is a good one. Full body, light yet nice mouthfeel and a wonderful malt, citrus, yeast flavor. Very well balanced. The high alcohol is almost invisible behind the bouquet of flavors. Nice. grimreeser (689), Minnesota, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours a nice golden with a huge head, great lacing. Aroma is of fruit, yeast. Nice sweet lightly tart taste.
