I drink it on tap. This is one of my favorite. Excellent beer. Appearance is golden and clear. At the first time aroma is fruit, but the aftertaste is very bitter.

2004 Bottle: Beer pour expected slightly cloudy medium golden with a beautifully retained egg white head. Then a whiff of aroma and BAM what kind of Saison is this? Significant hoppy aroma with fruit and yeast. Flavor is initially light fruit, also yeast and the afore mentioned hops. Very light and dancing in the mouth. All in all a delightful beverage.

Pours from bottle to chalice a deep, slightly hazy golden-orange color. Pour creates a thick, tight white head with great retention throughout the glass. Just a conucopia of complex luscious subtle aromas showing off notes of apple, pear, banana, lemon zest, fresh yeast rolls, coriander and clove with a touch of apricot. Pleasant livey mouthfeel with a full, fluffy body backed by a tingly spritziness. Flavors are crisp and tart starting off with a subdued fruity sweetness with flavors of ripe pear, apple, apricot and banana. This seamlessly melds into a more assertive flavor profile of slightly bittersweet lemon zest, herbs, spices and wood pulp finishing with a faint but balancing Noble hop and warming alcohol ending. Very drinkable and very easy going down for a 9.5%’er. Excellent!!

750 ml bottle, greedily drunk all alone...near-white whipped-cream tops a translucent, pale gold and shiny body...gorgeous mix of vanilla and sharp herbs (tarragon, rosemary, coriander), lemon-orange and a bit of oak...luscious, full mouthfeel, herbal pungency mixes exquisitely with the sweet vanilla-orange Creamsicle dessert...alcohol only vaguely present at the back end, and its muted and warming...a liqueur-like saison for the few cold nights left to us, or to bring in Spring like a true lion!

Slightly hazy golden yellow with a thick, tight, white head. A nice, complex aroma. Some sweetness, orange peel, coriander, straw/hay, grass and a light floral perfume. Not extremely funky in the nose; however, there were occasional bouts of funk that almost resembled a light skunkiness. Sort of a light and airy mouthfeel with an effervescence that tickles the tongue. The flavors are quite exquisite. Lightly floral with pleasant citrus tendencies. Things are well complimented by a nice spicy yeast character and a bitter hop finish. Clean and dry with only a hint of sweetness (green apple and honey) from time to time. A very pleasing Saison for a cold Chicago night. Many things to frielock for sending me down memory lane and back to the warm summer (despite it being a holiday beer).

Wild yeasty and oh so good. The nose is like being on the farm. Lots of horse blanket. The palate is yeasty and full in carbonation. Very good.
