750 ml bottle in Duvel glass. Pale hazy orange with lasting white head and lace. Spicy lemon pastry aroma. Very fresh. Bready honey melon with strong spicy bittereness. Medium body (light for the abv) with effervescent carbo and nice mouthfeel. Very assertive, complex, refreshing, drinkable and strong. One the of the best beers, period. Big thanks to Stu at Shoreline Bev for the special order.

Spicy perfume aroma. Big white head that lasted. Golden and cloudy. Distinct Saison flavor. Fruity and spicy, some graininess. Slightly bitter finish. Bubbly and smooth in my mouth. I finally found a little shop in this town that has some halfway decent beer selection so I picked this up. Very glad I did. I think Saison is one of my new favorite styles. Don’t let its light girly appearance and aroma fool you, this stuff kicked my ass. Alcohol well hidden.

Five beers for a thousand - Beer #997. Draught at Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Cloudy yellow/orange. Aroma of fruit & cheese. Flavour is sweet, very fruity and lovely. Not an off flavour in sight, this is incredibly soft and the alcohol is so well hidden. What little alcohol can be detected works so well and is so very pleasent at this massive strength. Wonderful beer.

Bottle from ’02. A gift picked up in Amsterdam at De Bier Koning.Pours a pale golden colour with a stiff white rocky head like beaten egg whites.Wonderful esthery aromas emit from my glass, apples, strawberries, vanilla, pepper, dusty cobwebbs, yeast. At fisrt sip... Oh my god it’s belgian beer heaven. Beautiful fruity yeast, honey, pepper,Quite subtly complex( read I don’t have the verbal acuity to properly describe what I’m tasting)Rich full mouthfeel, perfectly carbonated. Incerdibly drinkable, no, dangerously drinkable. The best thing I’ve tasted out of Belgium.....So far.

This is a wonderful beer. It has a lovely light amber color, a nice amount of carbonation, a flowery nose and a taste of honey.

Poured from the 750 ml bottle into a Duvel tulip. Probably my best pour ever; the goldenrod liquid rises just above the Duvel logo and the head stretches 3 fingers upward to create a perfect convex cap just above the rim. Nice ample lacing too. Smell contains notes of lemon, green apple, yeast, coriander, grass, vinous grape. Taste evokes earthy lemongrass, straw, excellent spiciness, light breadiness, orange peel, unripe pear. Mouthfeel is great, a very refreshing beer. Between thin and medium bodied. The alcohol is never really tasted but the warmth of it is pleasant. Drinkability is wonderful, I had no problem polishing off the 750.
