Aroma is a little tart and yeasty and hay is what mostly comes to mind. Flavor is coriander and spice and a little bit of funk ever so slightly. Finishes really dry and quite well. Unbelievably drinkable. Enjoyed this beer a good bit. Lothore (276), California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2008 A- Pours a deep golden yellow hue. Slightly hazy with a huge frothy white head which leaves tons of lacing as it goes down. An absolutely beautiful brew.
S- Smell is very strong. Fruit notes, Belgian spices and yeast combine to make my mouth water.
T- This is where this saison lets me down a little, not because it tastes bad but because of the fact that it just seems unbalanced and after the amazing look and smell I had my hopes a little too high. As one might expect you get the same fruit notes as in the nose, very few of the spices and a belgian yeast which leaves a slight skunky Heineken flavor in your mouth. While this paragraph seems like I don’t like the taste that isn’t it at all. I think it is one of the best saison’s I have ever had but I felt like it could be the ultimate with a couple tweaks.
M- Mouthfeel is very crisp, lingers on the palate a bit and seems to go down very smooth. Amazingly refreshing.
D- Again because of the fact that the taste isn’t where I would like it to be, it got dinged in this category a bit, however I had no trouble finishing the 750 by myself. bennylava (86), California, USA

This beer has a nice inviting grassy aroma. Yeast and hop flavors predominate and alcohol is very well hidden. An amazingly enjoyable beer to drink.

The aroma of fruits and grassy, sweet malts with some spices. The taste of citrus/orange with some malt and yeast. There are notes of coriander. Good balance. The aftertaste gives a warm feeling. satan165 (611), River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2008 aroma of lemon and other sunny fruits. yeast comes next, also providing defined clouded yellow body. belgian spice mixes with up front booze profile creating an almost sweet pastry like flavor. this is a bold, ’big beer’ - which is in itself bold departure for a saison, which this certainly is despite some amount of trail blazing in its flavor profile. wonderful head borders on the whipped cream sometimes seen in non-saison belgian ales. while the alcohol makes this slightly less palatable then some others of the famed dupont family, its contribution to complexities cannot be denied. the use of spice and its ABV indeed make this a great holiday brew. tlind2 (605), Helsinki, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2008 750 ml bottle. Somewhat milky golden color, expansive white head. Aroma of sweet malts and citrus. Taste is similar to their basic saison, with bright fruity notes, earthy tones, yeast, malts and a good hop balance, but with some alcohol and maybe a slightly fuller body. Very nice, but I still prefer the basic saison by a nose. I’d definitely like to see how this handles some aging, though.
