Stevige body, zeer verwarmend mondgevoel. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 26, 2006 Thanks to JPDISPO for opening up this one (and thanks to Clark for the bottle that I’m now able to cellar!) Hazy body with some sediment, and a muted golden-yellow color underneath a head mirrored after pillowy laundry suds and snowstorm lacing. Sugary lemon rinds turning south tempt the senses, followed by coriander and sweet orange peel. Lemon grass and lime juice brush on willow wheat come out in the next waft. Bitter orange peel graces through soon thereafter, moments before the yeast strain lets you know it’s the reason why we’re all here. Take a sip and we’re quite certain that this is one seriously flavored saison. Buttery sweet dough and vanilla buttercream seep in over sucked on lemonheads. Coriander gives a subtle scratch, but the confectionary bakers delight pursues and even sweeter path. Big puffy effervescence and in the dry recession, the spices coriander and chamomile rise up splendidly. Bakery lemon meringue cuts close to spruce. Light hotness if you open the mouth up to the atmosphere post-gestation. Lemon peel and dry beet sugar give a hot, warming finish. This is a beautiful thing. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA

The taste of this was like citrus, wheat and malt combined. The aroma was similar to Aventinus which of course pleases me. The alcohol was barely noticable. Really a wonderful beer. I recommend it. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 18, 2006 On tap at Brick Store Decatur GA. Pours dark yellow to light orange with a big off-white head. Aroma is lightly malty, earthy, and yeasty. Flavor expands on this with faint hints of orange and/or lemon peel, coriander, and a little pepper. Bitterness is low at front, and builds to a long lasting finish. This is easily the best Saison I have had. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA

Pale, slightly cloudy yellow colored pour with a really tall, frothy white head. Slightly yeasty aroma is saturated with granny smith apple skins and rose petals; a delicate perfume that proves less can be more. Slightly bitter, herbal flavors of celery root, parsley stalk, and an abundance of springtime clover. Some soft orange blossoms and a bit of shaved nutmeg and peppery spice. Finish is clean, quick, and crisp, with an abundance of lemongrass and a hint of lime peel. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA

Its peppery, citric, and piney. Has a certain yeasty funk that is engaging. The alcohol is well hidden and the flavor is full and complex. Finishes long and dry, acidic and sour. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 13, 2006 Fantastic appearence. As beutiful white head rarely seen.Fruithy and spicy. A bit more complex and abstract than La chouffe. The style of category is Saison. A wallone family brewing tradition. This was originally a new year gift to the brewers themselves but is now avaliable all year! JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 19, 2006 On tap at the Kerstbierfestival in Essen. Aroma of citrus and honey, with more of same in flavor. But here it’s dry and somewhat bitter, faintly sour, instead of overly sweet. Dryness is perfect, with a great cottony mouthfeel. Sorry I’ve never had this before, looking forward to having it from a bottle.
