smith4498 (258), Miami, Florida, USA May 12, 2008 Pours hazy straw color with big white head. Nice sweet bready aroma. Earthy, musty flavor that is slightly sour. Medium body with average carbonation and a smooth, velvety mouthfeel that finishes dry. Excellent saison.
nhorween (483), New York, New York, USA Jul 17, 2008 750ml cork and cage, 2007. Hazy honey color with a frothy white head. Wet hay, yeast, bread along with pineapple, grapefruit - it smells like a tube of freshly opened tennis balls a little bit. Well round saison aroma. Crisp and earthy flavor. Pleasant spicy and hoppy finish. Musty and a little cheesy, seltzer-sized bubbles. Really quite spicy. Quite good, despite this being a winter seasonal, I think it’s still a great warm weather beer. dmtroyer (304), Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA Jul 12, 2008 750mL. Celebrating #300! This is the epitome of a golden beer. Fluffy, dense white head depending on the pour. Nose is possibly the biggest let down, a bit of tropical fruit, and other generic sweet maltiness. Body is bursting with spiciness and other festive goodness. A healthy dose of minerality is present, mostly rust, copper pipe, and possibly brass but it is somehow well integrated with the spiciness and alcohol. This was a bit of a disappointment as the #1 rated Saison and their normal Saison is one of my favorite beers. I may have to re-visit this closer to the holidays. undsioux7 (458), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours a cloudy deep yellow with a big fluffy white head. Aroma of belgian yeast, pepper, grass, lemon. Taste is roughly the same with a sweetness coming through. Good stuff. I see why this is more of a winter then summer, since it is a little bit thicker then other saisons. BeerBlitz (37), Roslyn, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2008 750 ml bottle. God, I love this beer. I love the fact that it’s considered a saison, albeit a winter saison. Full bodied without being heavy or cloying, delicious in flavor and appearance. Straw color with a thick white foamy head. Alcohol content is well concealed. I would love to make this a daily drinker. IrishBoy (2043), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Draft at Seattle International Beer Fest; Nose of cinnamon, nutmeg, and light hoppiness; hazy gold with a small off-white head; flavor of slight hop bitterness and Belgian spices.
