SilkTork (3949), Rochester, Kent, England Aug 26, 2004 Peterborough Fest. Dull brown ruby colour. Berries and nettles aroma. Long mouthfeel - relaxing and invigorating. Nettle prickles. Mint. Soft and very tasty. Good ’un. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Oct 5, 2004 This beer has fallen in ABV from 4.2% to 3.8%, but still has plenty of porter characteristics, although it undeniably has the feel of a mild too. The colour is a rich, dark garnet. There is roasted coffee, berry fruit and a lot of licorice in the aroma. Much the same on the palate. There’s a slightly woody, sour, edge to the finish. Packed with flavour for a beer so low in alcohol. Cask (gravity dispense) at Peterborough Beer Festival.
haddonsman (1205), Derby, Derbyshire, England Aug 22, 2006 Cask (handpull) Flowerpot, Derby. Deep roasty aroma, plumy fruits, a liqorice lick. A rather flavoursome porter. GarethYoung (1108), Glasgow, Scotland Sep 28, 2006 [cask at The Three Judges] Black colour with ruby tinges and a moderate head which dissipates to a thin layer. Aroma of roasted malt, blackberrys and a hint of liquorice, hop notes of wet grass are also present with the faintest flutter of smoke in the background. Medium bodied with a dry finish where the smoke comes through again. Nice. Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2007 They’re good with dark malts those guys. Dark brown pour appears quite headless. Kinda rich, appetizing, earthy liquorice nose with dates flavours that I truly dig. Medium-bodied, soft palate displaying appealing fruitiness and a nice toasty/roasty blend. Excellent balance.
