reakt (810), Greater London, England Feb 13, 2008 Cask @ Winter BF Manchester. Deep amber with no head. Nose of apple, caramel and malt. Tastes of roast malt, coffee, cocoa and some fruity hints. Average.
wyzzywyz22 (327), Wirral, Merseyside, England Aug 18, 2008 Cask, Beamish Mary, No Place, Co Durham. Very dark brown, near enough black with a thin biege head. Aroma was sweetish with roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour was something similar. Solid and drinkable, but a little diappointing overall. Mes_and_Sim (4360), Highgate, Greater London, England Jan 22, 2008 A Mes rate: Gravicask at Manc Winter Fest. Dark dark brown with just a slight white rim. Aroma of coffee, malt and dark fruit. Flavour is more of the same and a little straight forward. Nice earthy finish with some eventual bitterness from some balancing hops. A reasonable porter but I would expect a little better from this brewer. FatPhil (2102), Espoo, Finland Nov 13, 2007 Cask (Peterborough Beer Festival 2004) 3.8%
Odd, this was more of a mild to me. A full bodied and aromatic mild, but still mild. Roasted grains to the fore. Competent as a porter, but not exceptional. Rastacouere (5270), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2007 They’re good with dark malts those guys. Dark brown pour appears quite headless. Kinda rich, appetizing, earthy liquorice nose with dates flavours that I truly dig. Medium-bodied, soft palate displaying appealing fruitiness and a nice toasty/roasty blend. Excellent balance.
