Listigovers (40), Ontario, Canada Jun 27, 2009 On tap. Quite dark appearance, although not the darkest IPA I’ve seen (that honour goes to Mike Duggan IPA) and very hoppy. Hop addict doesn’t joke around with it’s name. Sadly, it’s slightly unbalanced, malt is not a forbidden fruit in an IPA! ladnewton (59), London, Greater London, England Jun 15, 2009 Draught at C’est What?, Toronto, Canada on 10th June 2008. Exquisitely hoppy, pleasant mouthfeel and bitter aftertaste. In the style of an American Pale Ale, again compares well with Dark Star APA. JesseM (597), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Jun 10, 2009 On tap at Volo (long and strange story about how I ended up briefly at Volo today, my first visit). Taps a nice deep copper-orange, medium white-cap. Awesome piny citrus hoppy nose. Flavour is delciously well balanced, very nice malt bakcbone, but the hops steal the show. Good astringent feel on the back of the tongue, but not at all dry. Did I have the same beer some other people who’ve rated it here had? How could you not consider this a ’real ’ IPA? This was absolutely a spectacular pint. Fruity esters as well, in fact the beer as a whole kind of reminds me of Fuzzy Peach candy in a very pleasant way. Outside of extremely fresh Grand River Curmudgeon, this is the best Ontario-brewed IPA I’ve ever had. piscator34 (1042), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 7, 2009 On draft at Beer Bistro. Light amber in colour with moderate carbonation. Simple but effective aromas of sweet orange, a bit of pine, and a somewhat grassy hop element. More specifically orangey hop character, along with notes of pale malts, toasted nuts, and a bit of munich malt. Solid bitterness. An above average IPA as far as Canadian microbrewery versions go, but probably would be better classified as an APA. chicagodri (885), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 12, 2009 On tap @ Beer Bistro in Toronto. Pours clear copper with white head. Nice citrus and pine nose. Great taste though, nice bitter finish. I love the tap handle. AGAquino (62), San Juan, Puerto Rico Feb 4, 2009 On tap at C’est What? in Toronto. Clear copper colour with small white foamy head. Slight sweet malty and hoppy aroma. Nice balanced malty sweet hoppy bitter flavour. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Glouglouburp (2573), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 22, 2008 In short: A glass of citrusy hop juice. Simple but highly drinkable and highly refreshing
How: Tap at BeerBistro, Toronto
The look: Clear copper body topped by a very small off-white head.
In long: Hoppy nose as expected on the citrusy side of American hops. Taste is citrusy hops wall to wall with some pine-cone juice here and there. Inexpressive malts that provide an adequate body without contributing much to the flavour spectrum. Very juicy and refreshing beer. Smooth carbonation. Sharp bitterness of medium intensity. Couldn’t resist ordering it when I was that pump handle and was rather disappointed to get it in a pint that had to be orally ingested. Teaser. matt7215 (827), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Oct 19, 2008 on cask at volo cask days 2008. orange with big soapy bubble. juicy hop nose with lots of citrus. the caramel malt plays nicely off the hops and the finish is bitter. the fruity floral notes and juicy hop goodness come together really well but the palate is a touch thin. a well made session IPA.
