TheGrandMaster (1526), Auckland, New Zealand Sep 29, 2008 Bottle (in NZ), pours a amber colour with a off white foamy white head. Caramal malt aroma, with spicy hop notes. The hops are peppery on the palate, the malt is fruity at first and then gets more complex - medicinal, aniseed, and nutty. The finish is just a touch cloying. It’s a good barley wine, but I’m not sure it does enough to make me want more.
