Pours clear, sparkling gold with a fluffy white head; classic Belgian golden ale. Aroma has soft sweet fruit, grain, and yeast. The palate is crisp with a medium-length, prickly finish. Flavors present are quite a bit lighter than regular Duvel, but interesting in and of themselves because of a nice spritzy lemon-lime flavor that demands this beer be quaffed, not sipped slowly. I enjoyed this! Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Clear gold with a white head. Yeasty nose, a bit of sweet caramel. Flavor is much the same. Rather dry finish, pretty light and refreshing. JCB (1786), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2009 On tap at Monk’s Cafe, Philthy. Pale golden pour, only slightly hazy, which surprised given the liveliness of the "real" Duvel. The aroma was pert and yeasty, almost exclusively so, and this impression was substantiated in the flavor too. The finish was extremely dry, recalling Dupont pretty vividly. Nice mouthfeel, pleasant beer. OleR (2104), Oslo, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2009 250 ml bottle from Belgium Beers, Antwerp. Huge, shiny white head slowly settling upon a crystal clear, pale golden colored body. Spiced, dry malt aroma. Nice scent of Belgo-yeast; bubblegum, fruit-candy and perfume. Taste is fairly sweet and wheaty, with a kind of sourness in the backbone. Mildly spiced and very mildly hopped. Yeasty, with a noticable fruitiness underneath. Healthy body, but has a quite unattractive soapy mouthfeel. A quite good one, but the taste of it, does not live up to the promising aroma. Sammy (4049), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2009 Bottle. The aroma is light sour, a little bit alcoholic and malty, also some yeast. The white creamy medium large head has a normal duration, the body is clear and yellow. The taste is nice bitter and light sour, medium strong with a long duration. The texture is dry, with a lively carbonation and medium strong. michael-pollack (2720), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Dry, malty, light to medium bitter hop finish.
